In the movie Hachi the puppy was a Shiba inu, but Hachi was an Akita. Same family of dog, bred different sizes for different job rolls. As an owner of a Shiba, I can confirm Shibas are very habit driven. And will know when you are coming home or usually do. If you do something consistently they will expect it. They are also incredibly loyal to usually one person. Check out the history of the Shiba inu, it's wild!
