You need to watch the whole film to appreciate how emotional this scene is. It's properly, devastatingly heartbreaking and upsetting. I've never sobbed so hard in my life. I couldn't breathe.

I didn’t tear up until this scene. At first she didn’t want to bring Hachi into their home, but eventually she warmed up to him and accepted him as part of the family. Now, 9 years later, she sees just how loyal he is and grieves with him.

Just seeing him in this scene is saddening; he’s filthy, his tail drapes instead of curls and just the look in his eyes.
