Great, concise video - very helpful. We are building a new home in the Northeast that will include a 20KW Generac, and I will ensure to add some fencing barrier to reduce wind/snow impact after watching your video. .

As a generator I always tell people build a small shed around it and you'll be thankful down the road.

Your grid is that reliable! 36 hours, in 5 years is crazy my unit is 10 years old, and has just under 400 hours. I'm in northern NJ

I have a 20KW Cummins that is 3 years old with no issues, running on NatGas. It runs 20 minutes a month to charge the battery and have had a couple of outages with the longest being about 12 hours. It has been good so far.

1 oil change in 5 years? Better change it again. I would fix that lid the controller gets water on it the board can go and thst is big $$$ to replace.

I have the 15kw Honeywell version and agree the housing no good. I have the generac heater for the oil filter and battery pad and it gets so hot I think it heats up the whole block and keeps snow out of the enclosure.

If you do any future maintenance on it, feel free to video it and share. I got one now just over 2yrs and probably similar run time as yours but I had a new panel put on last June after a major lightning strike hit near my detatched garage and basically fried lots of random electronics all over the property including the main electrical pedestal and fried a couple things in the Generac. I was able to get the thing running manually after switching out a blade fuse. Later I had to get some small fuses for the transfer switch also for the battery charger portion of it. Since it wasn't charging the battery after power was restored, I had a dealer come out and he essentially just replaced the whole panel under warranty since less headache than dealing with insurance claim. So I had to redo wifi on it and a clean slate on the run time with the bi-weekly exercise schedule. The dealer also told me the starter battery is probably ruined since if its not charging the generac will kill it in a day's time but I was able to get it charged and so far after nearly 8 months including Northern Wisc winter, its holding up good. Interstate is worth it. I did initially try putting a battery tender on it for the couple days it went without its proprietary charging but didn't really help as it was draining faster than it could charge. All in all, Its a solid Genny. Thanks for sharing. You might benefit from some all weather air filter media around the vents. I know I get crap and leaves blowing in occasionally from the wind or my electric blowers when cleaning around it.

How clean is the electricity from the generac ?

Did you mean to say only one oil change in 5 years? You are going to destroy your generator if you keep that maintenance schedule up!
