Generac vs. Kohler vs. Briggs & Stratton: Breaking Down Their Differences (Which Is Better for You?). Welcome to our video of the Generac vs Kohler vs Briggs and Stratton brand comparison.

The main difference between the Generac, Kohler, and Briggs and Stratton generators is the type of engine incorporated in the small-sized house standby generators. The Generac generators are equipped with the Generac’s G-Force engine, Briggs and Stratton is equipped with a Vanguard engine and the Kohler generator has been equipped with the Kohler series 7,000 V-T win.

The Vanguard engine is reliable when used for the most demanding applications. Briggs and Stratton have cheaper engines and with proper maintenance, they will last longer, Kohler engines, on the other hand, don’t run longer when compared to the Briggs and Stratton engine. Overall the Vanguard engines are better because they don’t compromise their functionality when used for the most demanding applications.

Our neighborhood power equipment dealer installed 12kw Briggs standby units for us in 2 locations (10 years ago). At present, BOTH generators are still in service and operation. We perform yearly maintenance on them... and they "exercise" for 25min per week.

One of them is presently powering a home without power due to a major regional power outage. It's been doing the job for 3 days now... and I check it daily to make sure the oil is clean and full. It has been said by the power company it may be another 5-7 days before the service is back.

I've heard from a lot of people in the past 2-3 years that they've switched from Generac to Kohler because Generacs always had problems. It's interesting to hear nothing but praise for their generators in this video.

I work for tri state and we sell both briggs and generac we have more generac issues than briggs and briggs is the only one that passed the sound decimal test for inspections so this video lies and generac takes forever for parts and briggs can get within a week

Reading specs from each brand while showing random pictures of the various generators? Come on you can do better than that.

Are we talking fixed whole house generators, or wheeled backup generators. I’m confused based on this video’s pictures. Portable, wheeled, and commercial units are photo are being used for the purposes of this video. . .

From what we heard, most who have trouble with whole home generators, contrary to the brand are due to them not understanding nor doing the maintenance required for the generator. Most get too small a generator and then do not break in, maintain and upkeep the generator.

Kohler shave hydraulic lifters, no valve adjustment required. Generac requires valve adjustments. So my Kohler salesman tells me. I ve had good experience with all these brands of engines in various types of equipment.

This video is kind of a deception. They show portable when talking about whole home stand by generators. Get your act together. Just sayin'.

Bad assumption to start with: a warranty is only worth the paper. It is written on. Someone can offer a 25 year warranty, but if they don’t provide good, prompt, professional service, and the warranty is worth virtually nothing. It’s just like a car warranty for those of us who are adult. When this young man stated what he did that raised a red flag to me immediately.

Something everyone who has or wants to buy a engine generator. " When a small generator is running at substantial or full load and a fault occurs on the system there is a good chance that the generator can not deliver sufficient energy to trip the breaker or blow the fuse. This can easily result in a fire. Several design features can reduce this risk and include 1) A low voltage and or a low frequency relay 2) an oversized engine or 3) a flywheel or 4) A large bank of shunt capacitors. Buyer be Ware! It is important to understand that the impedance of a fault can change and is very unpredictable over a short period of time.

The only reason Generac is all over the place in home improvement stores and on line ia because they advertise their asses off. This gact doesn't make them better products. But it does give them many sales from future disgruntled and regretful owners.

I install them both everyday I'd take briggs over generac any day generac isn't bad but to manually try and do it yourself is a pain if you don't know the setting as with briggs it's 2 buttons and your good any questions let me know I'll explain

This is the most contradicting video I have ever seen. It will state one feature that two have an one doesn’t, then come back and say the exact opposite. This happened several times during the video. Absolute waste of time to listen to this.

You said the Generac uses a G-Force engine, but you didn't talk about its efficiency and skipped to the Briggs and Stratton.
