In this video we measure the decibels of a #22kw #generac home standby generator under load and compare it to a walk behind lawn mower. We try to compare the #noise levels and noise impact it will have inside your home for #science

It’s not called a decimal it’s called a deci bull phonetically sounding.

I have a 22kw Generac and we lost power for 8 days due to Hurricane Beryl. My Generac ran 24 hours a day for 8 days, and we were cool and comfortable with power to the entire house. We could barely hear it running inside the house and it sounded like music to our ears. Also, I just got my Natural Gas bill yesterday and it cost $227 to run it for 8 full 24-hour days. That's $28.37 per day and I'm very happy with that.

We had an ice storm here in far Northern Illinois last year. We lost power for days and were freezing in our home without heat, no hot water, no lights, internet. The whole house went down. Well, I just got a brand-new Generac 24kW standby generator. I love it. I love it when I hear that sucker kick on.

Thank you for sharing this video! I'm currently looking for a whole house power backup system, and this is incredibly helpful.

I never realized how loud standby generators were. I was under the impression that they were much quieter. Thanks for taking the time to make this. Very helpful 👍

*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*

I have a 12 year old 20kw Generac Generator and it has been absolutely Trouble Free. I do my own maintenance yearly and I would highly recommend buying one. The auto connect when the power goes off and disconnect when the power returns removes the tension a power outage causes. Love It !!

I really appreciate this because I just ordered a Generac. It's going to be right beside my house, and really close to the my neighbor's house, but I've spent hours listening to her dog's non-stop barking and am not going to put up with her noise complaints.

I used to have a power outage at least once a month--whether it be from a vehicle crashing into a utility pole, a storm blowing a tree limb on a power line, or a squirrel getting romantic with a transformer.

I purchased a portable generator and had an electrician install a generator inlet on my house in preparation for hurricane Ian. Of course, hurricane Ian veered off its projected path the next day, and I have had no power outages since.

I have that model Generac, and it’s no louder than a riding lawnmower. It’s way quieter than a leaf blower. It’s done good service during several incidents. I love it.

The best installation that I’ve seen was on a lot large enough to have the utility meter, main entry panel, transfer switch and generator 50 to 75 feet from the house.

Despite the ‘inaccuracies’ of the sound level measurement, your comparison with the lawn mower was very smart! Thx for sharing!

Very helpful. The comparison to the mower was a great idea. Thanks.

Home depot in Tampa says $4500 for a 16KW Generac and the transfer switch. My Steele 12000 (12K start/8K run) portable cost me $900 plus $50 for 30 amp inlet. $110 for 75 feet of 8-4 so cord from eBay. $60 for the two 30 amp twist-locs. $12 for the 40 amp inlet breaker used in my DIY manual interlock. 40 amp cannot be on unless the main is off. 12Kstart/8k run is enough for my AC and the normal stuff in the house. It will NOT run the electric heat grid. But the AC in reverse mode is fine for heat. Tampa Florida here.

Thank you for creating the generac videos. The Army is moving us to Beaumont, TX and everyone has recommended we get one. Your videos have helped.

Excellent video - 4.5 out of 5 stars !

I liked it because there is no music, no miscellaneous commentary or distractions (kids, dog etc) and the verbal pace was perfect and easy to listen to.

I too would have measured the DB level in the same real life like scenarios as you did to be 100% comprehensive and convincing. Overall, your 'packaging' of the videos are spot on - don't change your 'formula' and you'll do well.

The only thing I would like to have seen was a chart summarizing all of the test point data - even if it was handwritten on a piece of paper (many YouTubers do it that way). I take a screenshot of the data for future reference in these cases.

Awesome work and very educational. I'll gladly come back for more of your videos if I find them to be something or use to me for any projects I am working on.

Regards.

I run a dual fuel 11kw back-up generator when our Texas weather starts to hate us. It's stupid loud. I'm looking into building a little insulated shed for it to drop the noise levels further.

I had a Generac 22kw delivered today, I was a bit concerned about the noise level. Tomorrow I start the installation. I appreciate you posting your video.

Another great video. You have to love that the video was posted on January 30th and it was in the high 60’s in DFW, and the grass is still green. God bless Texas.
