Have you tried observing how different animals behave around them?

43:45 reminds me of the angry child and no one could reach him, so to keep the other children safe he was given a tree to express what he needed get out of him in that zone. Years later by chance encounter that boy grew up to be "delightful" was the word they used. Sadly the tree was very much dead by the time he moved on.

For me, two things stand out for an individual if that was a conscious choice... 1. It has characteristics similar to being in a prepared state for sacrifice (ancient and barbaric with many unfortunate consequences for the party and victims). 2. The gaps of new knowledge is perceived as a threat to deeply held beliefs.

If I remember right, in a letter or forward of Darwin's he said that he didn't set out to make a theory that disproved God, but that seeing the cruelty in animals led him to conclude that a good God could not exist that would create things this way. There is a spiritual reason for this in my worldview, but evolution being the case prevents you from being able to understand how logic translates into spiritual questions. My 3 cents. Good chat!

Super provocative. My initial reaction was her daughters reaction, "emo"—not enough open/speculative flavor, too nihilistically assumptive, as we just don't know what's beyond death's door or what exactly the fate of the stars holds. Not to fetishize, but things remain open here inevitably.

Personally, I believe death is final and forever and in the entropic end of the universe, but can we know that 100%? Claiming this, though, does make me feel a small worry of leaving the windows open to wild fantasies—perhaps that's what Julie wants to protect against with her all devouring meaninglessness. Maybe Julie's laugh is the impossibility of what she's trying to embody here—the pointlessness, the unspeaking void on the other side of it all. It seems like an attempt at floating in space, coming as close as possible to a position of pure disaffection.

I definitely agree with her emphasis on care, life as palliative care, hospice earth is how I view it too—denial of death become death of denial. But palliative care involves relief of pain and love despite whatever ephemerality or finality. I am Christian here it would seem as I can't help but see the archimedean point of loss, the ground of lack and the beauty of being reborn into a freer relation with myself and fellow travlers. it was a fun insight into liberal philosophers.. and their agony. i guess. not much else. and I disagree, you can be a failure as a philosopher because thought does not produce value by default, at best intrinsical, . like a gym excercise. but concepts can be corrupted and people mislead ) more so than a religion can. not seeing onself as an apostle of a religion is a huge flaw. because you will stagnate somewhere far from the truth most likely, instead of inching closer or further till epiphany
