After I learned that the abyss sibling is part of Teyvat, my main theory is that when we get to select a twin at the start of the game, we don't affect the fate of either sibling, rather we just decide who of the two we want to follow. And by that I mean, they are literally experiencing the same fate, each in their very own copy of Teyvat. And the Abyss sibling is just a puppet, the same kind that replaced Dunyarzad or Azar in the Sabzeruz festival samsara.

Imposter/Abyss sibling is probably a ploy to have our Traveller stay in this world long enough to have their fate tied to Teyvat. 🤔

What if they actually were our sibling but the unknown god did something to mess with our siblings fate?
It makes Dain's voiceline make so much more sense

Her consciousness is kinda- "trapped" within Teyvats, and traveller, the weaver of fate is the one who will free her

maybe Kh'anreiha creating the abyss twin is what caused the cataclysm?
Rhinedottir could have used Khemia to create a clone Lumine / Aether but because they are from another world this could have inadvertently caused Irminsul to be corrupted with forbidden knowledge, which started the cataclysm? maybe?

I think the Lunime that is about to leave with Aether is not his Lumine but rather an imposter which is why the Heavenly Principle stop them. For the crime that she has cause is too great to leaves things be which is why she said this "The arrogation of mankind's ends now" preventing the imposter from leaving. This could also explain why she hasn't done anything to us when we are exploring Teyvet 500 years later. I also think that the time they were trying to leave Teyvet is also around the time when Khaenri'ah is being destroyed.

Nahida stated that when Lumine was about to finish her journey, someone obscured her. That could have been the reason why Lumine is suddenly a local of Teyvat.

We know that Ei remembers the Sakura Tree never existing as she was in Kh'anreiha at the time. We also know that she placed the seed of the tree into the world time line.

It's possible that during the events of the cataclysm that caused Kh'anreiha to get wrecked, the Irmunsal re wrote time to include the Sakura tree and prevent the world from decending into total chaos as in Inazuma there were rift hound etc during the cataclysm then after they dissappeared once the Sakura tree was implanted and the Irmunsal changed the world memory.

During this time The abyss twin was in Kh'anreiha fighting/travelling and then the world change happened somehow affecting the abyss twin so then they somehow ended up being weaved into the fabric of Teyvat and seen as native.

Where as the second twin was asleep maybe drifting into the current time line. Where the abyss twin is seen as a native by the memory of the Irmunsal, a portion of the previous time line was removed just like Rukkehdevata was.

yeah this is also my theory, the story reminds me of anime tsubasa chronicles where syaoran travelled to different worlds to find sakura memories and there was an arc where he finally found sakura but it was her clone created by his enemies, and that the original one was sealed. So i think that the original lumine is still a sleep and the abyss or the heavenly principles created a clone witch have the memories of lumine to travel the seven nations of teyvat. That's why the irmansul have record of her and the fatui not classified her as one of the descender because she was created in this world.

Wouldn't it be Ironic as hell if we found out Paimon was actually the Twin and she was somehow "Shrunk, " with her memories messed up.

I'd like to think that MC is a descender from a parallel universe and the sibling is the version of MC in the Genshin universe that's why they are "twins".

Ok this makes me remember a theory I had when the whole imposter albedo event came up, where Albedo and the other homunculi were actually potential prototypes to create something like the traveler's sibling. When you talked about Khaenri'ah being ambitious enough to copy a being that isn't a God but can manipulate all elements, I remembered that that was my exact reasoning for my theory. The idea that they may have succeeded with the abyss prince/princess...I like it.

Well Ur theory makes a lot of sense. But its only be true if there is no problem with the "laws" of teyvat. But there are many things that terribly wrong with it. Like "the sky is fake" - then what is beside the fake sky? There are many questions like that. If u remember the "kidnapping" thing by sustainer of heavenly principles in the very first scene, I personally think that our siblings fate is sealed in teyvat by the unknown god, that's why it seems that she belonged to this world. She actually didn't belong from teyvat. That's why irmnsul has a limited memory about her and it suddenly ends when she is concluding her journey. And I think when lumine is concluding her journey, she connects with abyss and by their magic she partially got rid of the sealed fate, but not totally. And why she didn't re-unite with aether, because she knows pretty well that her fate is still sealed in teyvat. So, she tries to battle against celestia to be free her fate. So, she is also waiting to finish aether's journey so, he can find the truth about this world .

Lumine protected his brother from the corruption of Teyvat. Lumine absorbed the forbiden knowledge that's why somehow she belonged to Teyvat while Ather is still in slumber and when he wokes up, he's still a descender.

What if the real abyss sibling is dead, and the current one is a homunculus just like albedo. So saying she's not the twin is valid.

dumb thought, but what if the body (lumine) is indeed our sibling.. but the soul held within is someone else, meaning when we tried to escape and were faced by the sustainer of heavenly principles it was not us she had a problem with, but the freeloader within trying to escape their fate?

The only thing that makes one puzzle is that, Nahida mentioned there are 4 Descender~ 1st one is Primordial One, 2nd is The Second Coming, Seelie's Lover, (From Enkanomiya), there was a 3rd but no information and 4th is the Traveler of your choice....what if 3rd Descender is Abyss Twin but their existence/fate had been wipe out/replace by unknown source? Also ever since Scaramouche first appeared and then The Doctor, both kept saying the Star and Sky are fake. What if Teyvat is a Mirror Side of Abyss? So far we know Teyvat had Irminsul but what if Abyss had the original tree hidden? After all it is a part of Honkai Universe.

My theory is that we had already gone across teyvat and reached celestia. But then the sustainer of heavenly principles turned back time and then made the traveler forget everything. Which made the traveler go through all the regions again. I also think that the archons like venti and zhongli actually do know the traveler. I also believe that the sustainer of heavenly principles may have turned back time, but made some archons forget the traveler.

What if instead lumine being a clone… she forgot she was a traveller altogether and just remembers that she had a brother? What if she thought Khaenriah was her home all along? Thatd be so sad…

Let me cut this theory short - Lumine first woke up to Khanre'ah being destroyed and left to go on a journey to seek answers to who might have done it and someone or something gave her the Idea that her true enemy is the heavenly principles to which she found her goal to take revenge and form the abyss order to fight against celestia after 500 years Lumine fully became the abyss princess while Aether was sleeping through all of this events with a goal to find his sister but he is still on a weak ass state to even help her defeat the heavenly principle and doesn't want to have another mistake when facing the heavenly sustainer again.

I know it may sounds strange, but just after Sumeru's archon quest ended, i thought the same way as you, because for me its sounds strange that our sibling woke up first but he/she only started their joirney just after Khaenri'ah was destroyed, i thought smt like: what he/she been doing this whole time?
As for me it sounds better that our sibling wakes up and start their journey in Teyvat before the distruction, but that's what i think, other People may think about the situation differently(and sorry for all of my mistakes in this commenr, I'm only learning English so... :)
