I once use that awl to repair a pair of leather boots. The front totally open in the middle of a hike. I was able to sew it back with the tool and finish my hike 8)

Hello Canadian Prepper! I've been a follower of yours for over a year or so. You are by far one of the most knowledgeable and highly informative preppers that I have ever seen. I just watched this video and I was wondering if you have considered recording a video for female Bug Out Bags?

I personally really like my Sorrel boots for winter situations, I've used them building quinzees and I must say my feet stayed quite cozy

a rectanguler sleeping bag is preferable then mummy; you need the space for your boot liners, your coat, water, batterries, etc Keep up the good work

got to remember canned goods will freeze your backpack in her loss shipping it breaking the seal also a sewing kit make sure you have recurve book for doing sutures and some kind of antiseptic tampons and panty liners actually make good substitute for gauze for bandages

Hey mate, you need to get more information about basic electronics.
Most electronic devices are ALL DC, the fact that you use ac adaptors at home doesn't have to distract you.
So from 12v Dc of solar you only need a 12> 5v cigarette plug /usb converter and not a bulky and heavy inverter.
And for what concerns lithium battery of phones/walkie talkie etc, you only have to make your own cables( from usb to the plug of your device) checking that they like the current you give them.

Thanks for this great video, i learned a lot and got concious about what i already knew that might be userful for bug out kits. Really appreciate!

Good video for Canada you need a lot in the cold north. Maybe add some traps, heater for tent, hand warmers(there are fuel powered and of course disposable 10 hr types), The food I prefer is honey cake an ancient receipe(equal wt of honey or you might use maple sugar, flour, eggs, and olive oil or fatty cheese; you might use butter. bake at 325to350F or 170C no baking powder and wrap with muslin soaked in strong wine or raisin juice. You might double bake to remove water and weight like you would hard tack and might flavor with raisins. Used by the ancient Greeks before the days of Homer and taken by them on long voyages this honeycake if much like fruitcake and will stay good for years if then put in a tin or sealed in foil. Yummy and no cooking required.

I owe you an apology. I was wrong with what I said before about how you should just say what it is you have to say without all the big grand words you use. After going over many of your videos I ARE indeed a very smart man and have earned the right to use whatever it is you so choose to use. I find your videos to be full of great information, wise and useful and not just a run on of the same thing time and time again. Please forgive my judgement as I was wrong. GREAT work!

Any winter should require a raised bed or platform of some kind. Wool blanket is a plus.

I think more so than showing the items that could be useful if things have come down to Bugging Out, instead of remaining Bugged In. I'd like for you to make a video on how to store such items in a correct manner inside any pack. Not many videos if any, showing how to deal with this, and keeping the pack at a manageable weight, to be able to travel long distances while avoiding danger and violent people.

One thing you might add to your medical stash is some Arnica Montana. It comes in cream, gel, or spray bottle. I call it my "Magical All-Purpose Smash N Bash Cream", and I have used it successfully for everything from mashed fingers to gunshot wounds. It is used to decrease swelling, pain, and bruising from anything that causes tissue trauma. It literally speeds up the body's removal of the cellular by-products of trauma. If you can remember to apply it while you are still cussing, odds are good that you won't even have a bruise. It will take care of a sprained ankle well enough to be able to still walk on it. I got hit on the arm by a flying sledge hammer, and I didn't even have a bruise. I keep some in my purse, as well as at home. It's worth its weight in gold. Also, you might want to include a small bottle of rose oil. I've noticed it seems to have remarkable abilities to calm and lift the spirit. :)

you should add a survival .22lr.... or even a .22 lr hand gun for small with all the trees there....an A frame shelter and digging a 3 foot deep plat form can keep you warm....use adobe to fill in gabs

Nate, if you had to leave your home and had a couple hours to pack up your gear to get out; all the gear you could take would fill your vehicle with no room left for the family. The gear you show only covers you, so including everything for the whole family is quite alot.

I made a pouch for my camel pack with pouches to hold hand warmers.  Works very well in freezing temps.

Love your videos Canadian Prepper though sometimes I disagree with you a great deal of your suggestions are great. I grew up on a Reserve with every predator in Northern Canada around and never had issues or fear of them. Bugging out or simply camping it's the 2 legged predators that scare the hell out of me. lol The gear aspects are very interesting and informative though. Thanks.

As for washing dishes... I like to use ashes from the fire. Use the pan itself to scoop up some ashes and add some water. And if you get some charcoal, so much the better.
