Fleece socks made a HUGE difference keeping me warm when the hard freeze hit us in TX earlier this year. I CANNOT stress what lifesavers they are. They can actually keep my feet so warm that they get really hot & I have to take them off but when it’s really cold, they’re so perfectly toasty. If your feet are cold, the rest of you can’t warm up & it’s hard to sleep.

*9 inches of snow here in Albuquerque NM. Had the fireplace going, , made some corn bread over the fire. We try and go without natural gas or electricity during the winter to see where we need more preps. Firewood !!! Great Video.* Love and Light to ALL

The candles in a large can or terra-cotta pot is a great idea. Thank you. Great video. 😇

Great video! A little tip on the car heaters. Place a smaller can inside a larger can and fill the gap with stones. Use the smaller can for the TP/alcohol. The stones will heat up with the can is on fire and will radiate that heat after the fire goes out.

we hardly ever get snow here in the southwest, However hubby didn't want to go get milk or bread yesterday and today We got 2 inches of snow I had no heater on for this because it's October. So I baked a Turkey, grabbed my prep milk and made home made bread. Glad I had my prep food

Wow this is an unbelievable wealth of knowledge. Having been a city girl and living in the forest it’s a lot to learn. I will be taking notes and re-watching these there’s so much stuff on here I did not even know about can’t get over the life bivy have to learn about that!!! Thanks so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I love this woman. I wish I knew a way to get my wife motivated to prep instead of being concerned with just eating.

Be sure to keep your feet warm if you will be walking in cold weather. Thinsulate brand soles for your boots and merino wool hiking socks will help keep your feet warm even when your feet sweat. I have been seeing listings for battery-powered warmed vests and warmed gloves on Amazon and believe these may be useful too to keep warm when out of doors. Of course you will need spare batteries for these items. A fleece neck gaiter can close that chilly gap between collar and knit cap and will stay on better than a hood while not blocking your peripheral vision..

If you can afford it, a hooded rain jacket made from Gortex brand fabric can keep you warm and dry on one of those rainy, just-above-freezing days and will provide plenty of ventilation so you do not sweat like you would with a plastic poncho. The lighter weight Gortex fabric can be easily ripped so stay clear of barbed wire, but a rip can be repaired with a piece of duck tape (learned this the hard way).

How long can you burn an oil lamp safely? Is it limited before it get too hot or anything? Oh and keep sharp small scissors nearby to trim the wick. I have oil attachments (& chimneys) that fit mason jars. Are traditional ones safer?

We made sure our propane bbq grill had a side burner for pots. We can make a pot of hot water for coffee or a pot of soup without firing up the whole grill.
