Love it. This simple technique is 90% foolproof. With extreme twisted boards I usually let them re-acclimate for a couple days after flattening. Sometimes the board will bounce back to a twist. Some boards just can't be saved, unless they're cut down into smaller pieces.

Lowes should do this with all their lumber.

What a brilliant way to untwist. I never thought about this, thanks. I'll try it!

This technique is time-proven for lumber too big for jointer. Keep in mind you must have a dead flat workshop table and sled to make it work. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet technique! How much overall thickness did you lose on that board?

This is a machinist technique. We do this all the time on a surface grinder or milling machine to get something flat.

What do you think the longest you could put through the planer? I have a dw733 and am wondering if it would manage to do a 7 foot board this way 😅 I have a couple of rollers that could go each end to help with the weight

How do you keep that sled flat?
Every piece that long always warps on me.

Now that board is not the same dimension as the others. Great for single board. How much does it take off?
