If you are having display problems with using the Ultrawide monitor with the new Mac Studio, then I have 2 solutions for you. When I got my Mac Studio and tried using the HDMI. I had problems as Mac Studio uses HDMI 2.0 which only supports 4k @ 60.

Hi Sean, I had exactly the same problem with my Ultrawide monitor. Thanks to your cable tip I was able to fix it. Thank you for such a valuable video.

After struggling to find the right solution for a couple weeks, I'm so glad I found this video. Cable solution worked for me since I have another docking station already, but thank you!

Glad to see you got there in the end. Long-time Mac users with 5K or 49 inch displays always have a USB-to-DP cable handy (sometimes that cable comes with the monitor) as the HDMI work-around for Minis and the Studio are a real pain otherwise. To be fair the info on the Apple website does flag up that the HDMI ports only support 4K… Long time Mac users with non-Apple peripherals also always keep a cheap corded mouse and keyboard somewhere in a cupboard so they can set up new Macs for non-Apple peripherals (you only need the corded stuff for set up once, then they’re back in the cupboard till next time you replace the Mac).

thank you so much for this video. I already have the caldigit you have (I think i bought in the past due to monitor issues with mac and a kvm switch some years ago) and i was able to set the resolution with a Philips 49" superwide curved display 499P9. Now hopefully I like the monitor after using it for a while. Wow it is huge!

Hi Sean, with the USB-C to Display port cable are you able to watch 4k video content either in YouTube or Netflix? I am using my Mac Pro 2013 with a thunderbolt 2 to displace port with the Neo G9 and all 4K videos play at 1080 disregarding the fact that thunderbolt 2 can easily support 4k monitors. I think the compatibility with USB-C is what allows full resolution.

I'm about to buy a M2 Max Mac Studio AND I was considering getting an LG 49" ultra wide monitor. Your video is an absolute lifesaver, man.

Thank you so much for this video, you’ve helped out greatly!
Also I love the fact that you have the same monitor as me.
You also have shown me the light sort of speak.
Lol
I purchased a monitor lamp like the one you have and it has improved my workflow greatly. Thank you again for this video.
I bought the cable it works great

I prefer a usb-c to HDMI cable anyways. I am not sure having the wrong cable qualifies as a problem, but thanks. I am gland you found a solution

Love this video, but I have a question I’m planning to get a m2 mac mini with a g9 screen, I read that there is the same problem, so would the cable work as it worked on the mac studio or not?

In addition to the special cable, did you have to go to a 32-core GPU on your Mac Studio? Or, will a 24-core unit work with your Samsung operating the screen @ 60 Hz refresh rate?

How have you dealt with the issue of the resolution not being either 110 or 220ppi and therefore looks somewhat pixilated for the GUI?

Hi Sean, I just obtained the same mac and monitor you were speaking of in your video. Also, the TS4. how do I connect the cables (which cables) to get a higher resolution and hopefully eliminate the delay with the TS 4?

Very informative. Question …. Can you hook up two ultra wide displays to a Mac Studio with a docking station?

Hello, I’m using macStudio Ultra wit Samsung super wide 49” screen. Now I ordered the cable you suggested, but in the meantime I connected hdmi (screen) to usbC (mac) and I cannot regulate the right brightness! Set to full brightness the images are too dark. Any idea how to connect (even in lower resolution) to be able to deal with brightness?

Thanks for sharing. how do you like the 49"? to me, on paper the PPI is just too low about 110 if I understand correctly, versus the 200+ of a Macbook Pro...? I dont think I will be comfortable trying to read at that PPI

Hi Sean, when using the cable, to which port on the mac studio did you connect it to? Thunderbolt?
