I DO THIS TOO. I HAVE SQUIRRELS, NEIGHBOR CATS, BIRDS. I USE THE PLASTICE COATED CHICKEN WIRE THAT IS FLEXIBLE AND PUT IT OVER MY NURSERY POTS. IT IS EASY TO FORM AROUND. ONCE THINGS ARE GROWING WELL, I REMOVE THEM( SPRING) WHEN I AM PROTECTING FOR FRUIT ECT, I DO THE SAME. THEY LAST FOREVER.

What a genius idea! I probably can finally defeat those annoying squirrels! Thank you a thousand times!!!

Thanks for this tip! I have a good relationship with the birds in my garden. I give them plenty of seeds and water and they really keep the caterpillars off my plants. My beet seedlings have been their only target so far. They have been relentless. I have had to replant my poor little beets so many times. I guess they taste good! This looks like a great solution!

Yet another great tip to use👍🏻, thankyou Gary😀! Robins/squirrel 🐦 digging deep holes in raised beds, displacing mulch, leaving bare soil open to sun must do damage control few times a day. I haven't had to re-spray with neem in over a month because my allies, the flocks of little house sparrows, pick through my now uncovered kale daily & I haven't seen a cabbage worm 🐛🐛🐛or evidence of one since. I had de-leafed kale 🍃& used neem spray mid summer to help treat severe worm/whitefly damage as you taught, Kale regrew & gorgeous now!

Thanks for another great vid. Timely too because yesterday birds or squirrels nibbled all my pea seedlings to the ground. Fortunately there's time for me to plant more, but I'll be picking up some chicken wire first.

I keep muttering "doggone stray cats digging in the garden – we have GOT to get some chicken wire in here" and this is a good reminder to get around to buying some. Thank you!

Thanks for the tip. I do container gardening and yesterday I noticed soil on the cement. A critter had dug a hole in my tomato plants exposing the roots. So frustrating.

Hi Gary, thanks for this tip. We have lots of wild rabbits that help themselves to our garden. I am definitely going to try this.❤️👍🏾

✊I used it for cats who liked to "use" my flowerbeds. It was the only thing that worked!

I've lived here 7 years and for the first time I had a possum problem. I had to stop using fish emulsion and organic fertilizers. They kept digging up my raised beds and fabric pots. Switching to regular miracle grow helped but it was too late the fish scent was already in the soil. Not sure what I'm going to do if they return next year.

My squirrels saw this as an obstacle to be conquered. I swear my squirrels and birds are just built different here

For protection against birds you need a much smaller mesh. Why not throw some Tulle fabric over the top of the chicken wire (or put it underneath)?

Rabbits were a problem in my garden this year. Solution....rabbit wire around the perimeter fencing.
