Leggy Seedlings, It Happens Every Year. Tall, thin, and generally weak young plants that we're trying to get going so we can have a head start on the growing season. Great way to increase our summer window, but it only works if we can build tough, resilient plants to be eventually moved out into the garden.

Well, prevention is the best medicine, and in today's Quickie I have 3 ways you can prevent leggy seedlings from taking over and ruining your plans of a perfect vegetable garden this year!

2023 is the Year of the Garden! We deserve it after the last little while, and growing our own food and self sufficiency is just the reward we need to get back on track!

Good info that a lot of new gardeners really need to know. Have you done a video about adding a thin layer of fine vermiculite to the top surface of the seeding trays after planting the seeds to prevent seedlings damping off?

Cheers Jeff. Made the move from the temperate coast to the cold/hot interior in January. Still have a foot of snow on the ground and probably won't be able to work any outdoor gardens til the end of March, if lucky.

So this year will be complete indoor starting of the wee ones so this 2 minute quickie is exactly what was needed!

Thanks again Dude!

Hi Jeff I'm subscribed to your video's but most of the time I don't get notifications so I googled you to see if I could plant celery stalks because I have 4 planted in my garden that I rooted in water and so glad you had the video because I wasn't sure if I had done things right, Thanks so much, now I have to find your video on carrot's 😁

Thank you, Jeff! Even though I've got that South Florida climate so I do all my gardening outdoors, I've still had problems with leggy 🌱 seedlings! As usual, you've shown me the way. Take care & Stay Safe!

Needed this. I planted cucumbers, okra and peppers. Every single one of them ended up leggy. 20+ seeds. What're the odds? Well luckily it didnt take the first batch too long to sprout up so i can just try again. Left them on the heat pad too long away from the sun. So soon as these next ones start braking soil ill remove them from the pad and put by the window. Its gonna be raining for next few days so cant put them in direct light just yet. Hope these ones do better or I'll just plant directly in ground and live with what comes up
