Morning Sickness Is Mother Nature's Way of Protecting Mothers and Their Unborn, Cornell Biologists Find
"As unpleasant as it is, the nausea and vomiting of "morning sickness" experienced by two-thirds of pregnant women is Mother Nature's way of protecting mothers and fetuses from food-borne illness and also shielding the fetus from chemicals that can deform fetal organs at the most critical time in development."

Rates of Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy and Dietary Characteristics Across Populations
"Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) is a pervasive and debilitating phenomenon in humans. Several adaptive explanations for NVP occurrence have been recently proposed, the two most prominent of which predict associations with nutritional intake or specific dietary components. Here we extend previous cross-cultural analyses by analysing associations between NVP prevalence in 56 studies (21 countries) and quantitative estimates of per capita intake across major dietary categories, measured for the year of study by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)."

Nausea and Vomiting of Pregnancy in an Evolutionary Perspective
The proximate mechanisms underlying gestational nausea and vomiting have been intensively studied, but the possibility that the symptoms themselves serve a useful function has only recently been considered seriously. We synthesized evidence to evaluate various hypotheses for the adaptive significance of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, as well as the possibility that symptoms are nonfunctional byproducts of pregnancy hormones.

Severity and Duration of Nausea and Vomiting Symptoms in Pregnancy and Spontaneous Abortion
"Earlier studies have shown an inverse association between the presence of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) and spontaneous abortion (SAB), but no study to date has examined the effects of symptom duration on the risk of SAB.We examined NVP symptom severity and duration in relation to the occurrence of SAB. Data were collected from 2407 pregnant women in three US cities between 2000 and 2004 through interviews, ultrasound assessments and medical records abstractions."

Currently 7weeks+1 and I feel sick when I’m hungry but I’m hungry because I can’t eat because I feel sick . Such a problem that I can’t seem to overcome . It peaks from 4am-8am, settles til around 1pm-3pm, settles and then comes back 7pm-12am . Fun times

How dare you accuse me of having been a baby in my past. I'll have you know I was born a full grown adult. On the day of my birth I thanked my mother for her services and made it in time for my shift at the factory.

When I was in middle school I had a teacher who said that even looking at anything pink would make her extremely nauseous when she was pregnant. She said that one time when she was grocery shopping, the sight of all the pink meat in the meat department made her so sick, she had to run out of the store immediately, abandoning her cart full of food.

I had such severe "morning" sickness with my first, that I ended up in the hospital with preterm labor because of potassium deficiency and I had to be put in the cardiac until for potassium infusion. More painful than having the baby.

no woman in my family has suffered from morning sickness, unless we take prenatal with iron or iron supplements in which case we can't keep anything down at all. This goes back at least 5 generations that I know of, and we don't usually suffer miscarriages either. that is unless we have another medical condition like pcos that leads to an increase risk to miscarriage.

Im 11 weeks now. Im waiting to get it over. I'm having a very bad morning sickness, nauseous, eat then vomit everything. I can't eat pork, the look and the smell of it make me sick. I can only eat very little amount of meats because i have to. I have to eat so many small portions of meals a day. I sleep a lot, gosh a lot. And i even forgot to eat and drink. Im exhausted and i dont even want to hang out, put makeup on, or taking shower.
