My Advice to Young Priests: Follow Your Gifts

Friends, in accepting Holy Orders at a presbyteral ordination, a priest promises to conform his life to Christ, our high priest. And just as Christ took, blessed, broke, and gave away himself in the Eucharist, so too does he take, bless, break, and give away his priests to minister to his people.

This message is counter-cultural, and I wouldn't expect anything less from Bishop Barron. If only all our schools, colleges, and universities would send their young into the world with this powerful message, instead of 'follow your dreams; which we know so often leads to self-obsession, depression and disappointment...and a fractured, individualistic society. Thank God for Bishop Barron and his ministry.

You have been anointed as priests of him our Lord. This is the toughest choice in life, to give up all pleasures and be a priest. You can't make it by yourselves to the end but HE can take you to the end as holiest of holiest of priests, if you were to put ourself complete ly in his care, I mean completely, totally and totally.
