Hidden Worlds in Metroid?

I discuss the elusive and mysterious "hidden worlds" in Metroid, and why they're there.

I know this has been talked about by other people, but it is something that I worked out on my own long ago, and figured I'd briefly present my own take on it.

Press FF to pay respects.

These were mind blowing for me as a kid. I remember spending hours exploring them, and being really frustrated when I his dead end doors.

There is also a practical use for the door jump, it allows some sequence breaking.

It is definitely interesting. I myself have also found odd ways into these areas, and they can be accessed in several different ways, one being the morph ball grenade bounce.

Nice video! I like how clean the content is, not too under- or over-produced.

Just to echo the other positive comments...

Stumbled across your two Metroid videos tonight. You have a great knack for making informative, yet entertaining content. You don’t over-do any aspect of the videos, they are very on point, and have just enough flare to make them your own. Great work!

I came across someone mentioning hidden worlds in Metroid and never knew about them until now!

I've seen these rooms 3:45 in the Secret World, plus a lot of crazy clutter-shit that doesnt even look like any real room at all, possibly other data being read as Room-data

I love these hidden areas; they make for really cool liminal spaces.

So, when this game was a few years old, I was maybe 14 or 15, I found these 'hidden worlds' by doing the same glitch in the door. I believe I had the flu, so I spent the ENTIRE DAY playing Metroid, and on Norfair when I used the door trick and found myself lost in another area that I never saw, but found a way out, and just kept doing the door trick and kept finding all these crazy unfinished areas with a bunch of garbage tiles and random enemies. Norfairs background music, combined with myself being lost with all these random glitches still TO THIS DAY creeps me out, and I'm almost 50 now LOL!

I found your other video in my Recommended (after binge watching Pannenkoek's Mario 64 analysis videos, although I know that correlation != causation) and I have to agree with your other commenters - this is great stuff. No messing about, quick and to the point, and a good analysis makes for some great lunch break watching. I'm looking forward to checking out your previous stuff (Bit List etc) as well as any other videos you do hereon. I suspect you'll be picking up subscribers for a good few days.

Very well produced content. I don’t even care if this video is new content, your presentation is flawless. I’d love to see more game explanations here!

With all these tricks old programmers used to make everything run on such slow machines, I wish modern programmers were more like them.

I imagine if you get to the final elevator with the right Tile-set a portal of pure light will appear and take you to another dimension like the door in the Matrix.

I thought the hidden worlds were unfinished worlds that were just left in the game by the programmers

This vid is great!
I honestly wish this channel would dedicate itself to nothing but this type of content.
