I appreciate the doctors of Kolkata fighting for the justice of the doctor. How many IT employees have come forward to fight against this toxic work culture. The fear of losing job is preventing them. Why MNC is opening office in India because they know that for less salary they can exploit the employees. Unfortunately the government is not interested in the welfare of people they just want to retain their power.
When we are talking about word largest economy see the work culture, the roads in the country, the transport system, garbage, unemployment and so on

I can understand the pressures faced by the young woman concerned, having come from the same industry. The work culture is the same in my country.
I used to get only 3 hours of sleep every day because after leaving the office at 9pm, I used to come home and complete my work. However, the bosses only recognised the time spent at the actual work place. Even weekends were spent trying to complete the jobs.
This type of work culture definitely has to change if we do not want to lose more young people. A healthy work life balance is a must.

The mother who called in I am in full agreement with her points. It starts from the school and carries on in college and then to the work field.

This is an Extremely Sad story for the loss of this Woman Anna Sebastián Perayal
Sending this Woman’s Family My deepest Sympathy and Condolences, and My Thoughts and Prayers are with her Family.
Why didn't anyone from her Work, her coworkers, employees, or employers Honor her Life, by attending her funeral.
Very Disturbing and Sad story

Hold Narayan Murthy responsible for propagating and encouraging 70 hours work week. In fact there was outrage then but labour ministry or others in authority did not say anything and some company CEOs even supported the idea of 70 hours work week. Does someone have to die in order to fix the system?

For just 1 job opening there are more than 1000 applicants in India. Employees are just slaves now. Many employees are in unhealthy work conditions over time practices to save their jobs. Employers will not give overtime payment.
Population and Unemployment rate are increasing in India. Labor laws and rules are not effective and it is just on paper and not in right practice. Companies are on optimum utilisation of manpower with no rules and no laws for working hours because of huge educated unemployed persons. It is difficult to balance work and life for employed persons. Because Government also a super failure to generate jobs last 10 years and government is totally depend upon corporates.

As the dad of an associate in a big 4, it’s toxic, crazy work hours because of ridiculous workloads and datelines. Bosses don’t give a crap about juniors or any down line. He is seriously stressed and it took a toll on his health. Big 4 globally esp Asia are the same. Profit over staff welfare is the norm. Will the labour ministry audit these auditors?!!

He is sorry that he did not attend her funeral & said this will not happen again.
He will attend all future funerals of his employees, whom he will overwork until they drop dead & will definitely attend their funerals, of course..

The EY Management should be held responsible for the unfortunate death of a young lady employee of EY Anna. And not going for a funeral is heartless. What type of people are there.

16 to 18 hours work is normalized in Big 4(PWC, E&Y Deloitte and KPMG)...employees are dumped with 3 to 4 projects on them without any mercy. I have my close friends and family members who used to work in Big g say they were not even treated as humans. Its so pathetic that these high-profile organizations have turned professional carriers in to slavery

😂 I wonder where such words like "hustle culture" came up from. When I joined the industry 10 years back such words were nowhere.

Employers should be made to pay overtime if the employee is made to work for more than 8 hours . This toxic culture will automativally stop . This can never happen in Europe, America but in India, Employers have no respect for Employees health

Yes. This is very very true. Our children are slogging like anything. And not a soul to come to their rescue so long until someone has to sacrifice their own life that too our young young children. So many vacancies in various Govt. Offices. Only in India employees are being treated like slaves of the MNCs. Let your heart n, mind s health above the money wealth and competitive attitude .
