18 hours workday is normalized, glorified and expected out of employees by many big MNCs in India. The irony is, these same MNCs would not do that outside India.
Indians are being seen as donkeys to offload work to and India is seen as a huge factory willing to operate 24x7x365.
The Indian government is happy to take tax from us without ensuring the bare humane conditions to work. The government does not help taxpayers when they are laid off, but would happily collect the taxes from us when they aren’t even giving us the basic necessities.
Why India's work culture cannot be like that of other countries. Indian government should make laws in favor of workers/labor and humanity because who makes Someone among us made the work culture toxic, poisonous and hell for their own benefit, not someone who comes from outside.

Dont ever join EY company. My friend who use to work in this company was frustrated with the toxic work culture. The management are vultures. Extremely bad company. When my friend left the company, she was enjoying as if she has left the prison. She still sometimes tells me the worst experience of EY company upon her life

This case should be taken to SC and some guidelines should be framed by the court.

It’s a tragedy, and her mom wants closure. Every parent does. I wish EY was more sensitive in the language they used. They kept stressing on the fact that the girls worked there for only a short while. It’s no surprise that big corps operate like the devil.

No income for Extra Hours in India and expecting long working hours with no appreciation and promotion. Just got to know her 2 senior employees (AJ and RK) exploited her as per news articles. Even her team did not attended her funerals and director have no remorse at all.
Moreover Australian law implemented that after working hours no more call from senior or colleague. Why Indian Govt are not acknowledging abuse power of seniors.

Don't you just HATE the language corporate uses?
It's the most insincere, synthetic, carefully drafted & proofread by legal, signed off by PR, collection of words that serves only to protect and defend their interests!

If this was outside of India EY would be dying to settle with the family for millions of dollars.

Went through a similar experience at EY years back. And left my job because the team lead had made my life miserable. I was under constant stress and finally gathered the courage to give away my papers. Their birthday cake cuttings, team lunch and annual office parties everything is fake.

I’m just glad that I left India and moved to Norway. Talking to my friends in India I have realised India’s work culture is more toxic than it’s ever been. Low wages, long working hours and unrealistic expectations while screening candidates for interviews. Not only sabbaticals and lack of work experience are treated as a sin, the bloodthirsty MNCs now even have access to candidates’ work experience through their UAN number, thanks to the brilliant implementation of the EPFO portal lol. Data privacy is a joke now thanks to chaiwala who is at the helm of everything.

Very common for employees with less than 3 years experience.. They are literally the mules of the Corporate sector overloaded with work, tight deadlines & high expectations to deliver whatever work assigned .
Being at the bottom of the corporate hierarchy, they are the easy targets of hire & fire policy. . Companies find it easy to replace such employees as there are plenty others easily available to take their place

Please stop saying work pressure took her life. She took on the work pressure and proved super competent. Because she was competent and also too young to have learnt to say 'NO' to her supervisors they kept harassing her to do more than humanly possible. Gaslighting her and others like her into doing more than they could humanly take up. Something should change because of this 'murder' by negligence

EY is showing it's true colors, they are protecting their manager, his picture and name needs to be shared and appropriate criminal action needs to be taken. All these big corporate firms just like top schools and colleges deny any claims and say bullshit to cover their tracks. This is where we need public and media to raise their voice and teach these corporate firms a lesson .

This is happening with all private sector company. When you join the company, promises off on Saturday and Sundays. But after some days, no off nothing. But 16 hrs duty starts with all private sector companies. Request Central Government to act on these companies. The seniors are transferring their jobs to juniors. No life for these people, due to which families are suffering. Divorce is the main reason
The work culture in EY is correctly described by the grieved mother, is absolutely true. As when l was traveling for my work, sometimes l used to meet EY officials, they use to say the same as her mother.

This only happens in india and as usual no action will be taken. In European countries people are encouraged to work less days in the week. Ultimately it should be about productivity right. Sad state to witness now
