I was offered a job in the 80s with a big 8 accounting firm… I turned it down as it was well known they worked young entry level employees 80-90 hour weeks under extreme duress in accounting. I do not regret that decision ever.

This is because of the failure of India government see how the company are harrassing the employee, without thinking the government are forming labour law to work 12-14 hour work then in that case they will make us work 18-20 hour work till employee dies. Shame on government who knows to collect taxes but will never thinks of employees protection.😮

Animesh Jain & Ridhi Kejriwal. These are the two evil, toxic managers who drove Anna Sebastian to her untimely death. Rip, Anna, you deserved better.

18 hours workday is normalized, glorified and expected out of employees by many big MNCs in India. The irony is, these same MNCs would not do that outside India.
Indians are being seen as donkeys to offload work to and India is seen as a huge factory willing to operate 24x7x365.
The Indian government is happy to take tax from us without ensuring the bare humane conditions to work. The government does not help taxpayers when they are laid off, but would happily collect the taxes from us when they aren’t even giving us the basic necessities.
Why India's work culture cannot be like that of other countries. Indian government should make laws in favor of workers/labor and humanity because who makes Someone among us made the work culture toxic, poisonous and hell for their own benefit, not someone who comes from outside. This is the condition of almost all the companies in India. The government is sleeping, humanity is dead, the laborer working in a private company is scared that when will he be fired from his job and then how will he run his house, by saying that there are no jobs in the market, people are being made to work 18 to 20 hours daily, that too by scaring them.

Narayana Murthy, Chairman of Infosys, recently suggested that people in India should work 70 hours a week. The implications of this statement are already being felt, although it is unclear how many hours employees are currently being asked to work following his remarks.

Before criticizing multinational corporations, it is crucial to hold our own leaders—such as chairmen and directors—accountable for fostering such work cultures. This issue spans across sectors, including private hospitals. There is an urgent need for regulations to prevent this from becoming the norm.

Rather than advocating for a 70-hour workweek, why not propose a more balanced approach? For instance, introducing two shifts of 37.5 hours each could help employ more individuals, which is essential in a country like India where unemployment is rising. This approach would allow companies to maintain productivity without overburdening employees, while also giving workers more time for personal life and well-being.

I have seem young females who work late night at EY in Bengaluru are sent without safety measures, no cabs provided when they leave office late night . But the can claim if the hire cab but late night without proper security going alone in a cab is highly unsecured for a lady… especially under such work conditions… and it’s very high and continues when they have closing of accounts in audit .. leader with high brains think if your kids are put in such situations how will your mental status would be … MNC are good but the people who handle them here in India sitting as leaders are worst …

In 2014, I raised similar issues multiple times within my organization, but nothing was resolved. Eventually, I had to file a case against the company and several managers. Even after three years, I still haven't received any justice from the court. Unfortunately, this cycle persists, as workers like us continue to be treated unfairly. I've also heard derogatory comments from clients, such as "Indians are bloody" or calling our work "bullshit." Already spent money lot to take action against managers to avoid the same story. Don't worry, nothing will happen to EY. Today If I ask to join me for justice, you will be back or change the organization. Once you raise complaint means you will again fool by Advocate and police. Indians are bloody is really suitable for us.

It is kindly suggested that the government consider amending the labor law to ensure that the maximum notice period for employees does not exceed 30 days. Many companies currently have a notice period of 90 days, which can be challenging for employees seeking new opportunities or facing personal circumstances that require a quicker transition. A shorter notice period would provide greater flexibility and fairness for both employees and employers.

Unfortunately, This is going to be the fate of all Indian workers -some will die directly and some will die indirectly in the form of disease. Its a systematic problem - Government is ready with 70 hours week work bill, they clearly dont care whether you die or live but will take their cut in the form tax for sure. Over population ensures employer will have no problem finding replacement for current employee, you are replaceable in a day even with somebody who can work better than you in less pay. It is not a secret Indians have no knowledge about mental health, exploitation is in our DNA, does not matter which guy reach to the management he/she will not left any opportunity to exploit the workers. Finally last but not the least Sanskari Samaj - they will keep on poking their nose and will not leave any milestone to humiliate, disrespect you if you even try to get away from toxic job culture. I left the job in MNC and started the ever green wedding business - this is where every poor indian become rich and they buy everything in inflated price 😁 my life change drastically after this decision.

It's only loss to the family and the loved ones. The job role will be filled by another employee in a day or two, and he/she will pay the same taxes to the govt..So neither the Govt nor the company loses anything.Govt and the conpany very well knows that we will forget this next week and will be commenting on new breaking news.
