The hardest part about taking an ice bath is not telling someone you did.

The hardest thing for people who take ice baths is not making it their entire personality

I tried cold showers for a month. That was good enough for me. The only benefit I saw from that was that it was a nice change from the sweltering, Louisiana, Summer heat.

U forgot the most important rule of ice baths, to tell everyone.

It’s just not worth it ppl, yes there might be benefits but they are very minuscule if any at all. Most people that take ice baths just do it to say they take ice baths.😂

The biggest benefit I get out of ice baths is my attention to my breath and nervous system regulation. And my resistance to getting in the cold is a direct indicator of my midnset and how much resistance I'm dealing with in life in general.

I haven’t really seen anything that would convince me this is worthwhile. Most of the so called benefits (energy/focus/building resilience) are a result of just being cold all of a sudden. Of course it’s going to wake you up, that’s like somebody throwing a bucket of cold water on you while you’re sleeping.

If I had to guess I think the increased metabolism is just you burning some extra calories from shivering/trying to regain body temperature.

"I don't wanna take this ice bath, but guess what? Nobody cares."

Nobody cares if you do either 🤦

There have been plenty of studies now that show that ice baths actually hinder muscle growth and shut it down.

It help reduce inflamarion and muscle soreness and thats why athletes use it to recover from training and games so they can play the next game with less pain they dont do it to increase muscle gain or performance.

If your doing it for mental benefits or to fight inflamation then go for it.

But if your doing it to recover from a workout then your actually damaging your growth.

Far better to use contrast therapy or showers.
Alternating from hot to cold gets the blood flowing and lymphatic system moving while improving mood and enhancing recovery.

According to Dr. Mike, cold plunges actually reduce muscle hypertrophy

Mmmyeah no thanks. Firstly, it will NOT be improving my mood. Secondly, "I really want to get out but can stay in safely" occurs at anything below 80 degrees. Pass.
