And then, one of their favourite ways of criticizing and devaluing you...is complaining that you are always so tired. Mine was so abusive by the end, he told me every day how ‘boring’ I had become..that it was like living with a 90 year old. But, the reason I was so exhausted...was from dealing with him and his endless demands. They are wretched.

They constantly complain how bad their life is, seek reassurance and advice but do absolutely nothing to act on that advice or change their situation then repeat the cycle I’ve got a friend that’s done this for years my experience with the non-aggressive narcissist

My ex was a covert narc. She did destroy her relationship with her own kids to be a martyr. I had to realize who I was with and hated myself. Her kids hated themselves as well. The one good thing is that I have been embraced by them and her ex-husband. The kids and I had a sit down together and just talked about our experiences with her. It has healing for all of us.

This may be why I’m so exhausted after spending any amount of time with my mom. She knows how to get under my skin and irritate me, which gives her a sense of superiority.

You validated my feelings so much. The constant watching is what is draining my energy. I can't get anything done if he's home because he's always right there watching me it's exhausting I can feel the stare. Even my even my teenage daughter came to me and said why does dad always stare like that? I really started noticing it that I don't have any energy if he's home. As soon as he leaves I'm ready to tackle the world and as soon as he gets home I'm done for the day I don't want to do anything else.

They pretend to be your friend, to get you to get your guard down, an starts with something to feel bad for them, then when they get you sorry for them? They unload everything on you! They don’t stop till they take all your energy! I just got a hair cut yesterday and this women kept complaint about her life an her kids, by the end of my hair cut I was so tired I had to go in my car an take a nap! These people can literally be anyone!

Always changing the subject. We've been having the same argument for over a decade and she will never change. The minute she walks in a room it feels like all the air is sucked out and I can't even breathe. I have to get out of the room. I have no life and no fun anymore. Even a vacation is no fun. I've even done a little experiment where I quietly sat and another room and listened to see if she would even laugh or just be cheerful at all and never. She never laughs she never says anything cheerful it's always complain complain complain. And she makes everything so subtle and so passive-aggressive sometimes I just can't stand it. Constantly with the little Jabs very subtle. And then when I call her out on it she always says oh I'm just joking or oh you're so sensitive. After 12 years with this woman I am sick to death of looking at her. To make matters worse I have a 4 year old little boy that I love more than anything in the world. And I can't stand hearing the hurtful things that she says to him. I am so thankful that I am with him most of the day so that I can tell him how good he is. This poor kid is going to grow up with mommy issues thinking that his mother doesn't love him and that breaks my heart.
