Never feel guilty for rejecting an energy vampire. When it becomes painfully exhausting to be around them because you are giving, encouraging, serving, providing immense positive energy, cheering them on, as is your nature (unfortunately, narc. fuel) and they were wearing you out, it is time to create some distance. Guard your energy, time, compassion, body, space, priorities, investment, ..etc.
You do not have to justify it. (I am preaching to myself!)
P.S. Their absence isn't punishment, nor is their finding other supply punishment. Am I too healthy?
They will always have a blood source. Some of us choose not to be that.

I just got hoovered for the first time, I answered the call, knowing full well who it was.... I caved 2hrs 45 mins wasted talking with the narc. I betrayed myself for nothing by comforting them.

Fortunately for me the first one found supply. She did hoover me once. But by doing that she lost her mask. She turned out to be cheating on the guy who she cheated on me with. She simply couldn't lie her way out of everything. Bye bye !

When I would get discarded and move on my friends would tell me you regain your color and shine. And of course, the course of going back, my friends would say I always lose my shine, and vibe.
True it hurts a bit that I was the one who discarded the narcissist, but the comments I get from everyone, you are glowing truly helped in knowing I did the right thing

I have significant childhood trauma and i'm not a narc. I think the idea that narcissism stems from childhood trauma isn't always accurate and in fact many people from 'normal' childhoods can be narcissists.

I gave up the last 3 years. After her suicide and it was clear that it wasn’t her fault or the family that abused her but it was my boys fault and most of all my fault. To be honest I could have died in the house and she wouldn’t have know for days. Since I’ve been gone, I don’t feel so useless.
