How about when you have insertional tendonitis?

When you switch feet, make sure you don't lift your weight up on your bad tendon.

If the heel drops under the stair level, then the calf muscle would get eccentrical pressure and the achilles and calf muscles would be stertched too much. The eccentrical part would lead to muscle strains and cramps and this leads to loss of motivation. If the achilles is ruptured, the eccentrical fall would logically make things way worse. Best recovery exercise is calf muscle raises/without the eccentric fall/ . As a starting point the heels may be even slightly higher than the stair level is what would really pump the calves and would reduce the chance for rupture or inflammation.

Since 2019, way more research has come out on what treatment is required. There are many different injury types in the achilles area. 'If' you have insertional tendonopathy. This instuctional video would make the injury incredibly worse! Best to go to a reputable PT.

A brief pointer to you all that if you want to see what the scholarly papers on this topic have to say, use Google's Scholar search engine. It brings up papers from various trusted medical sources (NIH, Jama, etc.) so you can do a bit of research on your own. And, you don't get all the websites trying to sell you various solutions. I found it very helpful and it gave me a ton of info so I could have more informed discussions with my doctor. Hope it's useful to you and good luck to us all on recovery.
