Today, I will show you how I grow strawberry plants indoors from seed under lights. I use hydroponics to grow my strawberries from seed but you can use potted methods also!

Where do you place the tiny strawberry seeds inside the rockwool? Or do you place it on top of the rockwool?

strawberries is one of those food plants that teaches a new gardener just how little food
most plants produce for a given period of time.

I've started my first indoor strawberries and your videos helped me get here! I'm rewatching your videos again looking for as many tips and tricks I missed the first time.

Thanks for doing these!!

Great video very well presented. There is a video coming out soon from a You Tuber called Ever ready everything that shows successfully how to bring runners in from outdoors and to eliminate all bugs, guess they had same problem but developed a new technique and processes no one has done in the sequence they did it in. Should be interesting. Growing from seed is interesting as well and hey why not. Very nice vid.

My spouse and I lost it at the dinner table gnat swarm - momentary mental image of gnats the size of bees. Sorry you lost those plants btw - thanks for sharing your mistakes so we don't repeat them! edit: I think "signal" is the perfect word for how a changing season can inform plant activity.

That is interesting! Both my failed strawberry attempts in hydroponics have been from bare root plants that were started in soil before I got them. My most successful strawberries have been ones I grew from seed from a grocery store strawberry. I did not need to stratify them at all. I just stuck them in a container with a cover and many sprouted within 2-3 days! I have this batch growing in soil hardening off outdoors now to eventually go into the ground, but I plan on doing some for a hydroponic container that never touch soil and see if that batch does better once I transfer them to the hydroponic set-up.

What is that reflective stuff you use on top of the lids?

I've grown alpine strawberries in promix 200 cell flats, but found germination rates are abysmal. Did you presprout them before dropping them into the rockwool or was it a plop-and-go?

I feel that everything I grow indoor eventually turns into mold 🥲🥲🥲
