I had a very similar experience with my strawberries and root rot. Some hydrogen peroxide did help and eventually the roots grew back white. It did slow the growth of the plant, but it did recover. I noticed a significant increase in growth when I added an air stone to my “Aerogarden”.

I was able to get from seed to berry in 50 days using alpine strawberry seeds from Renee's Garden. I'm growing in a standard Farm 24 unit. I am struggling with tip burn on my leaves though. I've been using half-strength Masterblend but I think I need to tinker with the nutes a bit.

Just planted strawberry seeds in some soil and I was thinking of doing hydroponics. Now that I saw your video I will definitely try it.

Wow! I have been wondering about this, and I have some strawberries seedlings that I will definitely put a couple in my hydo tower, and a couple in my aero garden! I use Hydro guard, and it prevents root rot. Thanks so much for sharing this information and creating a video! 😮

I grow flower seeds in my aerogarden and once they have a nice root system I pot them up . Later on as they grow in the pots, I transplant them into the ground. They grow perfectly well that way . I'm pretty sure the strawberries would be the same . They are a hardy plant here in my garden even in the ice and snow . I think your strawberries have been sitting in water far too long . It's worth a try.

I didn't see it in the comments but you could try inoculating them with a nice mycorrizae blend something with a glomulus strain in it, that should help support the roots in the face of many common infections. Thanks for the great video.

Incredible! I bought some white strawberries to try but ive put it off because I was told it could take years to get a berry. You proved them wrong, youve inspired me to finally try them out in my next grow.

I realize I’m late to this Video but I do know for what ever reason, strawberry plants are prone to root rot in Hydo. Hydro guard from Botanicare is a great product that can cure it and prevent it as well. I’ve used hydrogen peroxide with mixed results so I stuck with Hydroguard.

Hello my friend,

another year and another growing season is upon us. I think this will make a good starter method but not long term (grow until good root development and then transfer to upside-down pot)

I wonder if you might want to try trimming your root systems down earlier? I’ve heard that you can trim them every 2-4 weeks depending on the plant and what the roots look like. It’s my understanding that it helps transfer more growth up to the plant. I trim my greens and herbs regularly and have had good success so far but maybe for fruiting plants it’s different?

I hope to see you try this one out again! I’m tempted, having strawberries would be the best. I think your main issue was having too much moisture around the roots. I wonder if you would get better results if you were to turn off the pump and add and air stone. I’m curious about nutrients for strawberries as well

This was so helpful to see an example where you had to overcome some real challenges. I'm about to try strawberries from seed in my hydroponic system and I've read a lot about putting seeds in the fridge to help germinate but I noticed you didn't need to do this was that because of the variety you used?
