I’m skeptical about the performance and software support, but it would be really cool to see Qualcomm have a competitive chip for Windows

This is the third time I’ve seen snapdragon talking about pc, hope this time it sticks.
I’ll be convinced when I could run my CAD software and RDR2 comfortably

If this processor runs on a computer that isn't either a Chromebook or a low end PC, i would be blown away

If this gets on mobile devices it would be insane like a Samsung galaxy tab that could actually be utilized for top quality video editing and impressive gaming

I'm skeptical of its true performance until we see real-world proof of it. Benchmarks are usually ballpark at best, misleading or deceptive at worst.

As a Mac user I am happy about the competition. This will keep Apple working hard for their buyers.

It would be awesome if this gets integrated as an option into the Framework Laptop in addition to Intel and AMD. Imagine being fully repairable and upgradable while having nearly as good battery life as Apple at the same time.

Can I just say, I absolutely cannot _STAND_ these new, floating style "graphs" these companies are using now to compare their products to the competitors. They don't even _bother_ to include X or Y axis data any more - making the numbers and comparisons they make entirely and utterly useless. They're not even _trying_ to hide their scamming ways any more!! I miss the days when companies didn't feel the need to scam and trick their way into selling products, and were at least (for the most part) a little more honest back then.

Windows is useless on ARM but I want some nice ARM notebooks with Linux and native running applications!

All Microsoft Native apps, Office apps, Browsers, Davinci Resolve and some Adobe Apps are already native arm. Do you remember the Android subsystem for Windows, that will bring huge number of Android Apps native to Windows.

"the biggest thing to happen to WIndows in a long time"

I'm skeptical. How many times has Microsoft tried and failed to get Windows on Arm to happen? So far, it has been very unsuccessful. Best case I see for this is high-end chromebooks. Really doubt we will see this as a broad success.

If there is going to be good linux support and the keyboard is good, I could see something like this becoming my main dev machine.
We would need something like Proton but for x86 and arm.

Qualcomm really needs to bring their A-game here. Nvidia and AMD are hot on the heels.

As a Linux developer and sys-admin, I couldn't give a tuppenny-hoot about the Windows/gaming performance. However, I'm very excited about the performance improvements and enhancements this processor will offer for Linux on ARM, especially as my current daily driver laptop is Rocky Linux on an aging HP Spectre.

Actually looking forward to this because battery life is the only reason I am thinking of switching to a macbook

I'm really looking forward to these new snapdragon processors, especially 8 Gen 3 and X Eliete! Using 8 Gen 2 has seriously been a blessing for me, the best processor I've used so far with amazing battery life and thermal control.

Claiming things is always easy. I am sure that it will not even be close to the performance they claim.

It is going to have the same issue every other attempt to move Windows off X86, from winCE to winRT, which is the ONLY reason anybody uses Windows is for X86 Win32 programs which will have to be run through a translation layer which has always made them either not run at all or run like 💩💩
