me 14 years old sitting here knowing how much I messed up last year bc I used prescribed Tretinoin for my acne and just immediately used it everyday non stop for months without a sunscreen or moisturizer bc my doctor didn't tell me 👁👄👁 my skin went from being oily to super dry like constant flaking but hey at least that led me into skincare at a young age and now I know sooo much and have much more knowledge and yes my skin is like steel now 👁👄👁 I can use tretinion everyday and my skin is use to it oh and im now using a moisturizer and sunscreen 😌

I am 26 and I've been doing research about starting a retinol in your 20s.
My current skincare routine:
AM: SPF 60 lotion
PM: hydrating cleanser and niacinamide
Twice a week: lactic acid 10%

Possibly thinking of trading out the lactic acid for retinol or if I can use it daily ditch the lactic acid and trade in the niacinamide for retinol

I actually love applying moisturizer before retinols. I learned this from Dr. Dray. This actually prevents a lot of irritation. And yes, your retinol will still penetrate. The only exception would be a super occlusive moisturizer- I wouldn’t use one with pertrolatum (like Cerave cream). I usually use something light like CeraVe PM

OH MYGOODNESS! Can I thank you from the bottom of my heart for changing my skin! I wish I could post my photos for you from 2 months ago. Ive been using different products you personally reviewed and recommended. OMG my skin has drastically transformed from using these certain products. A lot of people feel betrayed because Susan Yara lied, and did shady things, bashed the Ordinary while promoting her own brand etc. but are the products good? I don't want to not buy the products if they are good just because of the fiasco, and you are the only one I trust

Everything is great, but why no one mentions that retinol is dangerous for pregnancy? I mean, it is a big topic, a lot of studies.. I think it should be at least briefly mentioned in every retinol related video, so girls can go and read/search the rest by themselves. Or mention studies where the risks are approved to be neglectable.

I wish there was more info on how to ACTUALLY use it. Like wait after cleansing, the skin needs to be dry or can go on most skin after a HA serum, etc? Any tips on this?

Love this! I got my mom the 0.5% retinol from The Ordinary as well as the Neutrogena Rapid wrinkle repair Retinol SA to use at night since it's a thicker cream. I also got her a moisturizer with ceramides and Niacinamide+spf to help with using the retinol. This was really helpful in figuring out how exactly she should start. Thank you!
