Speed is a far smarter movie than it gets credit for.

I grew up and lived most of my life in southern California. Can confirm that NOBODY local calls that building the Fox Tower. We ALL call it Nakatomi Plaza.

I noticed Jack's watch immediately. I wore the same model for 28 years. It still operates, but was retired for a fitbit. My family also had a Pinto when I was a child.

Yeah I probably missed a lot of these. The movie just went by so fast...

You forgot to mention the wheels under Jack's board, as he and Annie escape the bus right before it blows up.

The guy in the black hat @11:19 is not going to have a good day when he finds out that you have to flip open the polaroid camera to snap some pics....

Nice job, Whatculture, I already learned all this by listening to the Director’s Commentary on the DVD

Fun fact: The subway sequence in the film was actually shot in the L.A. Metro Red Line (now B Line) while the stretch from Westlake/MacArthur Park to Hollywood and Vine was still under construction. The actual stretch that connects from there to Hollywood/Highland and out to the Valley didn't open until 2000, but the subway car itself comes up out of the ground very near the present Hollywood and Highland station.

In fact, the train pretty much comes up right over where the underground tracks are, and even headed in the right direction. As for heading in the other direction, from the Valley into Hollywood, since the line has to go from basically North-South to West-East to get into the station, it makes a huge, circular turn underground that actually takes it about a mile west of the station before the train is oriented correctly. Experienced riders can feel this turn and will stand up if they're going to exit at Hollywood and Highland as soon as the train straightens out.

Finally, regarding the CGI-created freeway gap, I think that everyone assumed it was real, because this was while a stretch of the 10 Freeway (yes, we really call it that out here, shut up!) had collapsed in the Northridge Earthquake in January 1994, so was actually being rebuilt at the time. It just seemed natural that this was the location in the film, but apparently not. I haven't checked, but it was most likely the 118 freeway at the north end of the Valley, which frequently doubles for other freeways.

I love seeing these little details that hint towards whats going to happen later on

Nice.

Interesting how much attention to detail filmmakers have, although of still like to know how the bus managed to leave the bridge on an upward trajectory.

It didn't need to happen. Just have the bridge going downhill. It's still not believable, but it's easier to suspend disbelief.

It's pronounced 'Yon' DeBont. Just like musician Jan Hammer who did the score for the Miami Vice TV series.

Howard: "I'm smarter than you, Jack. I'm smarter."
Jack decapitates Howard.
Jack:"Yea, but I'm taller."

Keanu hit the glass door so hard, it broke. The man.

The Santa Monica Bank signs are real. They were all over L.A. at the time. Also, the biggest continuity error is the large advertising board on the left side of the bus disappears and reappears.

2525 could be a reference to the song, "In the Year 2525".

In the Year 2525
If Man is still alive
If Woman can survive
They may find ...

I never bought the that it was Paynes original uniform as he was Atlanta PD, he's wearing LAPD. I just assumed he stole it. Also I didn't notice the plane collision cable till the HD version of the film. I had the DVD for years and it looked more like tire tracks

The building is not the Fox Plaza...It's the Gas Company Tower in downtown LA.
