I was taught that the quotient rule was the bottom times the derivative of the top minus the top times the derivative of the bottom all over the bottom squared. Is this wrong?

THANK I've been searching online for someone that went completely STEP by STEP because I had always been confused on solving these. You were the first video I have found that someone explained each step, but it's too late because I'm failing calculus already since we're half way in the semester so I need to withdraw or get an F. :( you are a life saver though!

For the chain rule why do we need to get the derivative of the constant for the bottom function?

I thought you will do the product rule, quotient and chain rule just to get the first derivative then do whatever you need to do to the second derivative. Was it just simplification of the whole equation? The first one
