Here, I will show you how to create a special place for your macros that allows you to access them in any workbook in Excel, even if the original workbook is closed - this feature is called a Personal Macro Workbook. As well, I will show you how to remove this special place for macros from Excel.

So, here, you will learn how to create and also remove/delete the Personal Macro Workbook for Excel.

This feature is a great little feature that allows you to save your favorite and most often used macros in a place that is accessible by all of Excel - it is, literally a workbook for your macros.

I hope you enjoy this Excel Quickie! :)

I love the personal macro workbook! I've created a new tab on the ribbon for the personal macros so they are easily accessible.

Hi! I like your videos, thanks for them. I'd be happy to see a series about macro in power point, eg. how to feed chart data from excel or from ppt table itself.

Hi, thanks for the explanation. I've got a question. I did create a personal workbook for my macros, but the personal.xlb file is not created even though I did everything this video shows. Could this be 'cause I'm using an enterprise computer and I don't have admin privileges?
Thanks in advice.

Nice video but just an FYI... @ 4:07 to view "AppData" ...you may need to check "Hidden items" (Open File Explorer>View Tab>Hidden items) in order to see this folder.

if you close all the excels which are opened and try to run this macro, it will not be available.
You are saying you are opening brand new excel in the video but you are really opening already minimized excel Book1 and running your macro there, which will work obviously.

I understand this will work locally across different spreadsheets, but will the macro still be available to other users if a workbook is shared or forwarded to someone else?

to find the location of the personal workbook. Select the personal workbook in the vba window and paste "?thisworkbook.Path" in the immediate window
