You nailed it. They piled the clay over the topsoil. No wonder it won’t hold water. A good pond builder has to know much more than how to run machines! I had a new 2 1/2 acre pond built 2 yrs ago. They brought in 2 scrapers and separated all of the top soil around the pond and piled it up. They used the good clay below that to build the dam. They also made sure they had good clay lining in the bottom. Then they took the topsoil and regraded it around the pond. No leaks. Beautiful pond. Great fishing in just a couple of years.

I really like your way of removing the smaller trees! That is an awesome technique. I'll use that technique the next time I'm removing small trees with my mini Excavator.

When your doing the bucket cam I think it might be better to angle the camera further down. You could also put it a bit higher on the stick so it’s less of a pain to operate and it might even get a cooler shot.
