I lived through the collapse of the Teton Dam in Idaho in 1976. My home was a small town called Blackfoot, 76 miles south of the dam. The flooding was unbelievable even there. It flowed down the Snake River valley and devastated farm lands and homes. An amazing thing to me was how much the community came together to help each other. I was in high school and me and my friends were in crews filling sand bags. I was working beside farmers, teachers, retirees. All together.

2 of the beavers are still being investigated by the Army Corp of Engineers for not having a Dam Permit.

You know, I'd never thought about how a beaver dam failing could impact anything. That flood might not have been as catastrophic as the others but it was still a heck of flash flood, plus now there's no pond so there's some terrain changes to consider

That last one when all you hear the water flowing, almost put me to sleep. I didn't even realize it, until I came to the sense I was staring at the screen and forgot about everything around me. That was awsome!!!

For years Beavers built and kept up a big dam probably 100 feet across, just an amazing amount of water held. One day the dam had a hole right through the middle, it was right behind our house so we knew it wasn't a DNR operation as they love hiring guys with explosives to blow them up. Turns out that after a time the beavers decide the dam is no longer useful and moved upstream to a new good source of younger trees to build a new dam. Amazing creatures.

The Russian hydropower failure is of a magnitude equivalent to the Three Miles Island failure. It's not a dam failure but, as said, a turbine structural failure. The bolts securing the turbines to the concrete support had failed as a result of vibration causing cracks across the bolts plus missing bolts, all due to negligence over the years. Unit no. 2 turbine got blown up into the air close to 100 ft high and hit the roof of the turbine hall. Following that, another 9 turbines out of 10 failed in various fashion. This likely the biggest disaster in the history of hydropower plants in the world.

When I was 10, I was washed away in a dam accident. I'm so lucky that I was caught in an illegal fishing net, and survived.

I remember watching the Baldwin Hills Dam collapse live on KTLA 5 Television. I was only 8 years old, but it had an impact on me that I remember this event vividly.
