That's a great way to explain the difference without explaining the difference.
For those that want it sweet and to the point:
Diesel is a sister chemical to kerosene, typically featuring added lubricants for operations in piston-operated internal combustion engines. Jet A is purified kerosene with anti freezing additives.

Due to being sourced from sister chemicals, most vehicles that can run on jet A can also run on kerosene, or even Diesel. It isn't recommended in many cases, but it's extremely possible.

There, Jonathan Juillerat, I fixed it.

Jet fuel is aviation fuel but not all aviation fuel is jet fuel (avgas, mogas, diesel, et c.)

Actually, jets are pretty Flexible on what kind of fuel they can use. The flight manual for the Citation 500 series I fly, includes a table for which fuels are allowed to be used (with some restrictions). Avgas/100LL can actually be used, though aircraft altitude is restricted on that flight and I believe it requires a maintenance log note.

Ive fueled a pt6 powered aircraft with automotive diesel before. The gas station attendents were quite confused when we showed up with a 45 gallon drum in the back of the pickup to get fuel. The joys of bush flying.

My chemistry teacher once told us "jet fuel is much closer to diesel than it is to gasoline"

Fun fact: gas turbine engines are notable for being able to use just about any fuel you can find.
So it is theoretically possible to fly a turbofan/turbojet aircraft with diesel.

The problem with using other fuels in jet engines is that they change state into gel/solid at higher atmospheric conditions. Also some of the density specific equipment could be thrown off if you shove heavy fuel oil or something into your tank

One of the most important thing on Jet-A1 is the concentration of water (≈10ppm ) and a higher sulfur concentration (I think about 150ppm. I work in a refinery, but I forgot this number ) 😅

The main difference you’ll notice, is that over time the mixture will turn into a gel.
IE. If you mix F24 (JP8) and Deisel.

Techos with diesel vehicles make sure that the contents of the waste fuel drums never go to waste.

There are three types of tutorial; comprehensive dissertations, brief synopsis and misleading and incomplete snippets like this.

As a matter of fact, every jet engine can run on automotive fuel, be it diesel or gasoline. However, there are strict limitations about the runtime etc and the fuel control unit on older models will need to be adjusted

Pro tip: Jet fuel A1 is a better lubricant substitute when you don't have any KY on hand.

Now, I know where to go get more fuel for my truck during the Apocalypse. Thanks!

The difference is the government doesn't want me to put jet fuel in my truck, they can't stop me

theres a lot more than just 3 types of jet fuel, my brother and I were talking about this yesterday (for context my brother is a mechanic for the b1 bomber in the airforce) and he said jet fuel like jp5 (or jp6 idr) is just modified diesel fuel with added modifications. fuel like jp7 tho is very interesting, among the other types, jp7 wont explode if you lit a match and threw it on it, jp7 uses a chemical to spontaneously combust. pretty cool stuff

A diesel engine can also run on cleaned up used cooking oils too. It won't be good for the long run, but in a pinch, with only a few steps of extra refining, used cooking oil will actually work.

Diesel can't melt steel beams but apparently jet fuel can....😑🙄😒

Jet A in it's simplest form is highly refined Kerosene.
