"If you've ever taken a long break from bowling" - Took a 15 year break, used to average ~230 highschool just started back up in a beer league 3 weeks ago and carrying a "solid" 150 lmao. This video is for me

Edit: The approach so far is fantastic. Great mindset and what I've been going through. The first few weeks it was a struggle just to find my foot work, rhythm and release. Tuesday was the first night it felt like it used to. Not stressing about results just trying to find *it* again. Glad you guys are focusing on that and allowing grace in failure at the start!

9:48 is the most important part of this entire video for me. I was SUPER competitive in my early 20's. Bowling as many tournaments as I could and doing reasonably well in them. Averaging 230+ in league. When I came back after an injury and 6 years, I was miserable. I was pissed off half the time I was bowling, even though I was averaging 210. Recently I've been trying to have more fun at bowling and measuring my expectations after someone in my league said "I didn't even think you liked bowling that much"
I'm now averaging back in the 225+ range and having more fun.

This is A1 content Packy & Matt. That bonus tip is something I need to drill through my head as I’m trying to get back into bowling after an 8 year hiatus & 3 kids.

I’m glad to see Packy practicing his coaching, getting ready for Nov. 2nd at Nutmeg Bowl.

i have just learned to hook a bowling ball with 2 fingers. It is amazing to go from bowling straight to giving your ball the aim-9 sidewinder effect!!! packy you have inspired me to bowl in a league.
Keep on rocking packy!!!

Yep, 15+ year hiatus starting a family and relocating. Fast forward to my high schooler going from junior league to HS team and I’m back on the lanes.
Still rocking my kangaroo leather SST 6’s. As far as equipment goes, which will also be the tell tale of when I stopped😂
Black Widow 1.0
Roto Grip Nomad
Ebonite Showtime
AMF XS
Even still have my relic
Nu Line Excalibur from when I worked at the bowling alley when I was in high school.
Before I my hiatus, I’d already made a switch to 15/14.
Got a few trainer tools from Eileen’s Bowling Buddies and I’m addressing a few bad habits I left off with.
Averaging 210 out the gate with ancient equipment and rusty hinges. I’m looking forward to improving even more with content like this and some new gear.
Good stuff Pack.

7:46 I used to struggle with having a strong follow through and what helped me was to exhale hard right at the release. It keeps my body relaxed up until the bottom of the swing right before the release! The breathing also helps with my tempo which is very important

LOVE this series idea. I'm a ~210 average but have several multi year layoffs. Seeing how to practice, and work on to improve is huge. Thanks guys!

Watched this video earlier today... tried the "v" technique and ended up rolling my 1st 300 ever! (Came close many times but never sealed the deal) Coincidence.... maybe, but just thought I'd throw it out there! Good tips my guys! I was also a bowler who took 15 years off from bowling in juniors until joining my Friday night league 6 years ago.

Great tips. For me it was always ‘waiting’ for the ball at the bottom of the swing. If I got ahead of myself with the ball, absolutely nothing on it. If I was behind, the famous double dribble. Actually, I am not waiting for anything, it just feels that way when timing is right.

Please do a video on the release and follow through. Keep up the great videos.

Balance is soooo, like, important.
In practice today I was losing consistency until I noticed I wasnt posting easily.
It's usually a sign that the ball is too far away from ya bod.
