I would want my spouse to get remarried, but there needs to be a minimum period for grieving, out of respect for me and what we had together. If they remarried in less time than it took to marry me in the first place, I’m haunting both my spouse *and* their new partner!

I’ve been married 14 years and I would never get remarried. Once you go through so much with one person… it’s been a very happy marriage. Don’t get me wrong. But in 2020, my husband had a massive stroke and barely survived. 13 days in ICU. 1 month in hospital. 2 months in PT, separated because of covid. Him learning how to talk and walk again. Seizures that still scare the crap out of me after 5 years. 2 pacemakers put in and removed before they found out he’s allergic to titanium. The stress. Nope. No way. Nobody except the man I’m married to would be worth the stress. One marriage is enough for me.

My Nan lived for nearly another 30 years after my Grandad died. She was so far from miserable. She was happy that she had the love of her live and a family who loved her to bits. She made it clear she was happy and didn't want to look for anyone else.

Because when i die i believe ill see my wife again and i dont want to find someone else in between and complicate that. She gave birth to our children and shes with me everytime i see our kids. That keeps me motivated to be the best father i can be until we meet again and i hope she will be proud.

I don't think getting remarried would make me happy. I would probably only consider it in terms of my baby needing a father figure and me needing someone to help balance work and childcare. I'm comfortable by myself.

In my perspective I know I have someone that no one can replace, and I don’t want to settle for a downgrade. I think the truest love in this world is when they can’t settle to find love because they know they won’t ever find something as true as you. I also see more remarriages more for convenience then love, even first marriages, so if you think you can find something equal or better, then in my opinion you settled in the first place. Grant it I do realize this feeling is only experienced by a very small fraction of people who experience this form of deep love. It’s amazing when we realize “I don’t think I can find someone as great as you”. It’s probably the reality if you truly love that person. That was sweet.

I always thought the same way. And assumed the most logical healthy thing would be to allow them to marry someone else after I died. But then I got married and I asked my husband if I ever died would he re-mary. He straight up told me no way. I asked him why and also asked, "what about dating?" "Are you just gonna be alone for the rest of your life if I die?" And his response was. I have you. I don't need anybody else. "Even if I'm dead? Then you won't have me" was my reply. He said "I don't need anybody else. You are the only one for me. I'll just look forward to seeing you again when I die".
Now I agree with him and I can't see any reason for us to re-mary if one of us died because we will always have each other. Even if we get separated for a while
