I’ve lost about 40 lbs (210-170) in six months by walking minimum 10, 000 steps a day. People need to trust the process and don’t expect changes over night

Update 2025: I wrote that comment in 2020, after half a decade I revisited the stats and couple things I learnt. Just walking 10k steps is not enough to lose weight if you’re eating like shit. During those 6 months I was actually walking closer to 12-15k steps a day. Going down to 10 just made me stabilize my weight. When it came time to losing again I had to up my steps to 20 and improve my diet. If you want to maintain, walk 10k and keep the same eating habits

I’ve walked 20k a day for 30 days & I lost 20lbs

Edit: Wow i made this comment back in October of 2020 and now its November 2021. I’m sorry but I don’t check my notifications often and I’m barely on YouTube with school and work going on. I’m sorry for the year long wait but I’ll answer some questions. I continued walking that many steps for 2 more months and i lost another 30lbs. I tracked my steps with my Apple Watch (the exercise app worked wonders.) I didn’t change much in my diet, I did portion control, less sugar, drank alcohol less, and watched my carb intake. I also just switched straight to drinking water, with maybe a cup of juice 2-3 times a week., and yes only a cup, it was something i craved every now and then. Sadly I got really depressed after the 3 months and I’ve gained 20lbs back which i have maintained until now. I’m restarting and it’s only day 2 and its honestly like riding a bike. I did a few other things throughout the year that didn’t get me to gain the full 50lbs back. I continued drinking only water. I’m hoping to restart this journey strong and get under 200lbs by May 1, 2022. I’m currently just under 270 so I’m happy with that. Thank you for reading this if you got this far :)

I’m doing this from a week. I’ve lost 3 kg, not feeling hungry or tired. Drank 2-3 litres of water and following a decent diet. Not taking any supplements. Eat clean and in 6 months you’re gonna have fucking amazing body 🔥

Great job! I’ve been walking 20k steps+ every day for the past two weeks.

7 month update: I still do the 20k steps and haven’t missed a day.

2 years ago, I was walking for an hour each night after dinner. Over the course of that summer, I lost 20 Lbs. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to continue that due to health issues....but I can tell you, walking does help you lose weight and feel better.

Walking helps a lot. It gets rid of swelling, and leg swelling as well. It's very important to walk, because it helps with the circulation of the body. Congratulations on your fitness journey.

I'm 15, 6'1 and 200lbs. I was 210lbs 2 weeks ago. I started intermittent fasting and walking 10000 steps a day. Once I get down to 180, I'm gonna start building muscle because I'm a broad build guy. I'm trying to get to 180 by mid October to early November. I'll try to update monthly.

*Newest update is a July 5th 2021 update in the replies for anyone interested*

Update October: I'm 191.5, but I've lost multiple inches, and a lot of fat pounds. And gained a lot of muscle. Inches lost is more important than number on the scale guys. Remember to drink water and stay active. 😁

I was walking 20, 000 steps around my apartment every day for about 2 months straight. It was good for me to slowly build up strength and endurance without doing anything too strenuous that would cause an injury and make me want to quit(I was severely out of shape when I started). But then I realized it was just too time consuming and I could burn the same amount of calories in half the time doing something more intense than just walking. So now I try to get in 10, 000 steps a day if I can, but I mainly focus on doing 1 hour of medium-intensity cardio 3 days a week, and then I do 10 minutes of high-intensity cardio, 30 minutes of medium-intensity cardio, and lift weights/do bodyweight exercises 3 days a week. I feel like I'm in sooo much better shape doing more intense cardio than when I was just walking, and it also takes up way less of my day. But it's definitely good to work up to it. I've just jumped straight into cardio at other times and I always end up giving up because it's way too difficult when you've let yourself get really out of shape for too long. I would end up over-exerting myself and causing an injury and having to take too many days off to heal, which would cause me to lose momentum and get out of the habit of exercising. I've only lost 10 pounds since I started walking in May, but I think that's because I must have gained muscle.... because I definitely look like I've lost more than 10 pounds!
