Multitrack Recording w/ Elektron Overbridge

In this video we cover how to get the Elektron Digitone Keys (or Digitone) and Digitakt routed within Ableton Live using Overbridge to record all 12 of the individual outs of both machines as well as the stereo FX output for a total of 14 tracks streaming over USB.

You can also do this with the Elektron Analog Four, Analog RYTM, Analog Keys, and Analog Heat.

Here's more information about how to get the Overbridge VSTs loaded into Ableton Live:

This might cause some confusion because 2 days after this video came out, Elektron released firmware updates for both Digitakt and Digitone where the Audio Routing options for USB Audio were moved to SETTINGS > AUDIO ROUTING menu

This just do not work with my AR mkI ... no sound on the individual tracks. Trying every now and then since 2 years without any success. I tried everything. Anyone with the same problem?

Thanks for tutorial, really helpful. Quick question - and sorry if missed something, but in this example did you have to set either of the Elektron devices as the audio interface to get the audio in or are you using a different device and overbridge handles it all? Thanks!

This is a very succinct an accurate guide. What I would like help with is latency concerns. I have a similar setup of DT/DN/Peak, and my Peak will be a little bit offset from the recorded Overbridge tracks. I am sure it is just due to more Digital/Audio conversions, but any help would be appreciated!

Question, are you disabling the midi ports at the midi preferences to enable Overbridge?

I don't have a soundcard yet, I wanted to use the audio interface of my computer with overbridge… but there are too many latencies… What would you recommend to buy to get the lowest latency if I want to record the 12 individual outs and the 2 stereo FX output ? Is a Scarlett Solo good enough for example ?

Thanks, this is a great tutorial. Problem is, when I record this into ableton, the audio clip on each track is greyed out and I can't play back the audio I've recorded. I notice none of the tutorials I've seen address this. Any ideas? :)

This is gamechanger. I have Roland tr-8s and Roland J6 but there is no option to add another synth simultaneously in this way and record all of them in one session.
Awesome. Thats why I'm turning into elektron world

Do the left and right outputs have to be plugged in or does the sound go through usb. Can I just have my Mac and my two machines and usb cables is what I mean..😄

Hello, thanks for the video. I hope my question is not stupid. Im considering buying a digitakt. At the moment recording my synthesizers through my soundcraft mtk 12. Is it possible to multitrack record from two sources? I use cubase 10 btw. So could I use my soundcraft interface/mixer to record synthesizers and att the same time mtk record from the digitakt via usb? Thanks in advance

Extremely helpful video. Is it possible to route the audio from the novation peak into the Digitone inputs and create a separate track for it on Ableton? That way even the Peak can be routed into the Digitone and would essentially have no need for an audio interface? New to all of this!

Thanks for the tutorial. Are you maintain all the fx sends like delay and reverb on DT/DN with this recording method in ableton?

i cant figure out on how to record the individual tracks with the effects on. i only get dry version

6:00 — It's not "post-fx" as in post fx from the digitone's effects. It's post fx within Ableton if you happened to have effects on the Ableton Overbridge track you're using. Choosing "Post FX" at 6:10 does nothing in terms of wet/dry from the output of the Digitone.

Hi!... can anyone explain how to get the plug in to show up in ableton??...

Thanks for this helpful video! I'm trying to understand how to have the tracks be in sync with Ableton's clock so that I don't have to edit/warp each individual track after recording. I want to have my tracks recording be in sync with Ableton's timeline, more automatically, in other words? Is this not possible?

I'm using the Analog Keys, but I figure this should be more or less the same. Ableton is suggesting, via a dialog box that opens when you open the Overbridge plugin in Ableton, that you sync your device to Ableton via OB. I'm having latency issues and I think the solution might involve setting "latency delay compensation" amounts in Ableton? But I'm not sure if this is correct or how exactly to do this.
thanks!

Thanks for the video, very helpful ! Unfortunately, I have a huge latency when I record them. I have to do track by track and rewarp them. Any idea to go more efficient ?? Thank you !
