what I don't get about OverBridge is that you're instantly sacrificing the Elektron sequencer right? P Locks in particular, I just don't see the advantage, you're effectively turning a powerful piece of kit into a soft synth or am I missing something?

For my use I can only see OverBridge being needed is to send the Analog Four's tracks (In my case) to be recorded for adding to my final track in Ableton.

I am now trying this with the official overbridge release and Cubase 10.5. Can't get it to work recording separate channels when using my Focusrite. When I use my Focusrite as my audio driver for cubase the inputs from the Digitakt do not show up, as they do in your video at 5:40. So I can't connect them to the fake bus(es). In my mixer it just shows the DTs Stereo out? Am I doing it wrong or did they change something from the beta to the official release?

14:45 now that Overbridge is out, you can just put hot-drinks down directly on top of these machines Bo. Quite Safe.
Actually what would be nice to Is there a single difference between OVERBRIDGE USB HUB and a reasonable USB 3.0 hub.

i keep getting "no overbridge devices selected" message in the control pannel. i followed instructions set routing, system and so on in settings, updated to latest version, uninstalled, reinstalled. for now i can plug digitakt via interface into ableton and import audio that way, but am unable to use overbridge

Hey Bo! 👋 Great video! I started off using overbridge for multitrack recording, but I’ve also been using overbridge in my hybrid live performance setup and its been pretty amazing! I’ve been using the Digitakt midi tracks to control other vst synths as well. I know it’s a Beta, but so far so good. 👍🏽

Software like Overbridge is very difficult to create, and it's expensive to maintain, and it tends to only be functional for a few years until the OS landscape changes. Usually these things are quite limited, buggy, and ephemeral.

But... there is a solution.

To reduce the effort required, to make their products as compatible as possible, to make their products as future-proofed as possible, and to maximize the value for their customers, Elektron could do one thing: Get rid of Overbridge entirely. And by that, I mean adding class-compliant USB audio, storage, and MIDI to all of their devices. By supporting industry standards this way, their products should automatically "just work" with virtually every DAW, every OS, and every type of computer... from now until the end of time.

I understand that Elektron had hoped to get more money by making these functions an additional purchase, unlocked only by buying a commercial companion app. But people reacted so badly to that idea that they cancelled it and made Overbridge free again. However, now that the profit motive is gone, there is no good reason to keep the functionality locked behind a proprietary companion app. Instead of adding Digitakt support to Overbridge, they really should be adding standards compliance to the Digitakt.

Im just kindof confused as to why its taking so long to develop overbridge when they had planned to do so since before the inception of the device. If it actually works though, I hope this sort of thing takes off. For those of us that want our tools to be as versatile as possible, this would be a gamechanger.

Hey Bo, Digitakt, Digitone and A. heat are using the exact same power supply. It's Elektron Power Supply PSU-3b. Don't worry about mixing them up ;)

Another alternative (Windows only) would involve using VB Audio's Voicemeeter (any version) as your ASIO driver instead. That way, you can route multiple sources and even ASIO drivers to anything else.

We need Overbridge for iOS so I can have single channels sent to the Eurorack via the Expert Sleepers ES-8 :D

This all sounds good, but I've spent a couple of days trying to connect the Digitakt to Overbridge on OS X Catalina without any success. I managed to update the firmware through Transfer but that was it.
So I'm dawless which was my original idea. Circuit, Digitakt, and Zoom H4N Pro will do the trick. I can record all audio to separate tracks albeit via audio cables and analog to digital conversion.
Haven't tried my iPad or phone though, which could work out of the box...
Anyway - Overbridge is not ready for use yet. Not sure if it's a USB-C thing - I will try 2021 the next time.

This is good stuff, they just can’t deliver like you can. Just going audio for now but seems to be working fine with both Digitakt and A4mkii into Ableton.

Send FX are only recorded through the main outs, not individual. 😔
