A dinosaur tries to save a fox.

Two crocheted stuffed animals -- a Fox and a Dinosaur -- love and deeply care for one another, living together in a sushi restaurant after hours. But Fox finds itself in danger and in danger of drowning, and it's up to Dinosaur to rescue the day. But the Dinosaur hits a snag in the rescue effort and must make a difficult decision to save its loved one.

This short Australian animated film -- shortlisted for an Oscar nomination this year -- is an elemental, simple narrative. And with its dynamic, colorful visuals and vivid stop-motion, it's also visually stunning, with great attention to detail and beautifully fluid action. Each shot is precisely framed, giving the tale great clarity.

The story is essentially a classic rescue narrative, which gives directors Andrew Goldsmith and Bradley Slabe a chance to create a wide-scale and audacious action sequence that grabs attention and holds interest with expert craftsmanship.

But the creative pyrotechnics don't just work on the level of art. They're tied in with the strong, almost primal emotions in this story, which holds love, loyalty and the sacrifices we are willing to make for them at its core.

Amidst all the color and action, the storytelling and editing take great pains to delineate the emotions and connections between the two stuffed figures. The relationship between them is touching and sweet, both epic and intimate at once, which raises the stakes and our investment of the story. The film ends with notes of melancholy, sadness and just a bit of hope, making for a remarkably resonant story.

With its cozy-cute characters, LOST AND FOUND will catch the eyes of children with no problem. But its emotional and tragic depth makes it a deeply moving, heartfelt experience. Yes, the short is colorful and charming as many children's films, but with a genuine sense of loss and sorrow, its ending is guaranteed to linger well after viewing.

I'm choosing to believe the dinosaur lives after the fox stitches him back together. Fox looked determined. Did not expect this to make me cry quite so fast. That last bit with the flashbacks and his head coming undone omg

To those who feel sad at the ending... It is okay! She will knit him back. He had consciousness even as just a piece of his head stitched together. And it is a story so bleak, it is almost not worth experiencing if that is the ending.... She is frustrated as she isn't the best at crotchet. But we know she won't give up. And as an expert on crocheted dinosaurs and foxes, I can assure everyone, he will be just fine and they will have a lovely story to tell afterwards.

I NEED a sequel. With them playing together happily ever after. :)

7 and a half minute animated story about two stuffed animals with absolutely no dialog or backstory makes you more emotional invested in the characters than most feature length Hollywood movies. So emotional, suspenseful, and moving. Both tried to sacrifice themselves to save the other. Great storytelling. Wish we knew if the fox succeeded.

Also frak those damn onion ninjas.

Also still a better love story than twilight.

My wife has been crying for the past 15 min because she’s not positive that the fox ever gets the Dino put back together. Damn you Omeleto for not showing him getting completed. Please for the love of god tell us that he gets finished.

This short film has done, what no current disney movie has been able to do in almost ten years. You ripped the heart right out of my chest. Thanks a lot.

That’s my daddy my whole life…when I couldn’t put him back together at 90, my whole life and being changed…he saved me through a husband’s suicide, my mom’s death and a child’s suicide…he died after he made sure that his baby was ok…I love that man more than I love anything!

Just seeing his head slowly come apart and the phone full of their memories dying and her putting him back together just for him to come apart again because of her determination is so touching. Had me in tears.

I watched this as a little kid once and started to sob. My mom asked me what was wrong and I showed her the video, she made me the characters because she felt bad. Mom are so sweet! Call your mom today to make their day!

I was in an animation class with someone that worked on this project! He brought in the little dinosaur and showed us! Everyone loved him, he was so cute. He also showed us the start of the film! I couldn’t wait for it to come out, and here it is! I don’t have any evidence to prove that I was shown, but I figured I’d share.

One morning I woke up and the crocheted bird I had made years earlier was gone. I never figured out what happened to it. I'm now choosing to believe it sacrificed itself for one of my other possessions. ;)

I like to think that the dinosaur unravels himself often because it seems the fox knows exactly how to put him back together.

This is one of the best examples that you dont have to have amazing actors or huge budgets to visualize stories that moves people. What you really need is passion, a vision and dedication.

Thanks so much for creating this beautiful love story❣️This totally represents the love story of my husband and I; only I am the dinosaur and he is the fox. This film was filled with so much symbolisms that represented all the challenges we faced. On the end, love conquers all. I am truly grateful that this short film was created 🎊 🎉❤

he died to try and keep her from dying until he came apart, and so ultimately she tried to put him back together only for him to come apart again, but she didn't give up on him, so she tries again.

true sacrifice and love, two things very hard for many people to do. well that was my interpretation at least.
