as someone with body dysmorphia and anorexia it's scary how much i FEEL and understand this. being in the dark, staring and stretching your flaws.

Tbh it’s a bit uncomfortable and disturbing to look at, but it did a good job symbolizing the pressure of having to look a certain way to society and what the person is on the outside and on the inside.

I never cared how “disturbing” the animation was, the message is what REALLY matters here. I watch this whenever I feel scared to leave my house

I think I understand the meaning behind this; in society, there's a lot of judgment over a person's looks and body image. Many men and women are pressured into looking a certain way because of how society and media wants them to look.

I see this as a sort of metaphor for emotional pain. Outside you show whatever people want to see, the beauty of joy, of a smile. When you get at home you leave space for the ugly and heavy truth, sadness, the lack of desire.

Everyday I get ready for school, put on makeup and comb my hair to look perfect for others
I get called pretty and beautiful but I genuinely don't feel this way
On the inside, I feel ugly, insecure and I critisize myself in front of the mirror a lot
I am fake
The face I put on for others is facade
In reality I am messy and sad and
words from others cannot truely change how I feel
If my friends saw the real me, they would not be my friends
