In this short video i have tried to explain the temporary changes to the driving test DVSA is bringing about from 1ST OF MAY 2020.
Email sent by DVSA couple of days before states that from 1st of May 2020 if any candidate make
1 Serious or
1 Dangerous mistake or
16 Minor mistakes
This means learner has failed their test. Examiner will ask the learner to drive back to the test centre rather than continuing for the full test. They will tell the leaner that they have failed their test once they get to the test centre.

The idea is that examiners and leaners spend less time in the car together to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

As at this stage only key workers are allowed to take the driving lessons and driving tests. I would like to appreciate the efforts of those examiners who are breaking the social distance rule just to help the critical worker.

Motorcycle module 2 tests will not be affected by this change.

If you are a critical worker and looking to book your practical driving test, then please contact DVSA by emailing them on
