Another funny fact most do not
Supposedly, I was the first and only under 21 age person in an episode or on the faux bar set that wasn’t one of Carla’s kids. I was in the episode called “what if Cliff Clavin” and played Timmy, who stole Sam’s little black book.
Was the time of my life and all the cast and crew were amazing to work with! Thank you for these throw back facts!

Actually, Norm's wife Vera DOES appear in one episode -- the Thanksgiving show that ends in a food fight.

The idea is that none of the main cast has a place to go for Thanksgiving dinner, so Carla (who was expecting her kids, but they stood her up) winds up hosting everybody. Norm was supposed to go to Vera's mother's house, but he would rather be with his friends, so he shows up at Carla's house with an uncooked bird (and no Vera -- she 'might' show up later).

Everybody gets pretty testy since it takes so long to cook the bird, and they wound up throwing peas and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy all over each other. At the end, Diane (covered in cranberry sauce) tells Sam that she will get revenge when he's not expecting it -- and goes to get the pumpkin pie. At that moment, the doorbell rings -- it's Vera. Norm greets her off-camera.

As he brings her to meet everybody, Diane throws the pie at Sam, who ducks: and that's the ONLY time we see Vera -- with a pumpkin pie in her face.

Every single episode starts with "Cheers is filmed before a live studio audience" so whoever was complaining wasn't paying attention

I'm 30 years old living in Turkey. This amazing Tv show is not known here much but thank god by a coincidence I saw this show on tv in the fall of 2004 and since that time I still watch Cheers whenever I want to take a break from all my worries and sure it helps a lot :)) Cheers you all good people from Turkey! and !!! I couldn’t get enough of Cheers when it was on tv and after the show was over, I switched to watching Frazier and got hooked on that show as well. Thank you for doing a video on Cheers. It’s brought a lot of old memories back to me 👍 Your channel is great!! 👍

I had two alcoholic parents:
Father was a maintenance drinker, had to have his daily tipple, but never exceeding his tolerance limits.
Mother was a binger. While she didn't have to have it every day, if there was any in the house, it was usually consumed that day; be it a can of beer, or a fifth or two of applejack.
So, a show about life in a bar did not appeal to me one bit.
But, in later years I had a live-in girlfriend who absolutely loved the show and watched it religiously. In time I came to like the humor, and it helped me overcome my reluctance to watch; and it became one of my favorite shows.

#6) Brought back memories. Back in the 70s, I had a bar in Columbus, Ga. I would close my eyes before lifting the phone handset. I was asked why I did that. Simple. I could truthfully tell a wife, or girlfriend, that I didn't see him there.

I can't imagine Cheers without Norm and Cliff? But I guess they didn't plan on being so successful that they would need to develop storylines for so many years either. I think I've seen every episode several times, I watched it when it was on new, & countless reruns. Thank you, this was very interesting!

You have to hand it to those actors who've turned rejection or what was meant to be a short loop into a permanent role and then into an icon. MASH's Klinger and Soap's Benson come to mind; Cliff and Frasier are two more.

The most surprising things I learned from this had to do with Carla: that her husband was killed off because of something the actor playing him said about her, that her dad played Phil and her sister was involved with the show.

The funniest thing about Cliff being a know-it-all, is that for the first and perhaps second season, his facts were actually true. Then as you said it was funnier for his facts to be askew. Well, it was funnier.

When Cheers first aired in Germany, every name of the characters in the show where switched to German Names and Cheers was called "Prost Helmut" (Helmut was Norm´s name). But it didn´t catched on so they took it off and aired in some time later with the original names! I remember watching it as a youngster with the weired German names!
