Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen at the Beethovenfest Bonn 2009.

The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, also known as Beethoven's 9th, is the final complete symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1822 and 1824. Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 was first performed in Vienna on 7 May 1824. One of the best-known works in common practice music, the Symphony No. 9 in D minor is regarded by many critics and musicologists as one of Beethoven's greatest works and one of the supreme achievements in the history of western music.

The 1st movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 has been called "Eroica revoked:" Unlike the triumphant, heroic mood of Beethoven's Third, the "Eroica," this last symphony from Ludwig van Beethoven begins in a darker, murkier, more pessimistic vein. The music of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony seems to come out of nowhere before masses of musical material are moved.

Deutsche Welle and Unitel Classica present Estonian conductor Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen recorded at the Beethovenhalle Bonn 2009.

Wow! What an impressive performance. Absolutely superb and outstanding! This is a Rolls Royce of an orchestra and what a conducter they have. Just mindblowing. One of the best versions available on Youtube. Thanks for share!

Beethoven is my favourite composer. I know all his symphonies well, listened to many movements many times. This movement is my favourite of the lot, and boy it is played so well.

This is a hypothetical scenario in which Vladimir Putin's life took a different turn, leading him to pursue a career in music rather than politics.

Last time I heard this it was live. Probably around the same time too. Around 250th year since Beethoven's death. I remember this moving me to tears. Absolutely beautiful.

who is playing the bassoon? he is so good,
and the way the conductor was able to accentuate it is just amazing.

Excellent...played at the proper tempo! Just listened to Barenboim’s version and it is too slow for the power of the music....

My only negative point is on the poor camera focus and direction. What a waste of time focusing in the less important, like the celli pizzicati, instead of put the focus on the woodwind fugato. The camareman doesn't have a clue of what happen because there is no one who really read the score while the orchestra is playing and tell the cameramen where to put their lenses. This ruin the visual experiencie. It look filmed by amateurs. Thats a shame for Deutsche Welle to miss such an expeptional perfomance and your crew members does't have any musical knowledge or training to know were to put your focus. What a shame!
