We sold our 2010 Prius last year when we purchased our 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. When we sold our Prius we had nearly 190, 000 miles. Never had any issues with the traction battery, and we noticed no degradation as it appears to not have lost any storage capacity, Most amazing is that the 12 volt battery, was the original and we purchased our Prius new in May, 2009. I'm 70 years old and owned a lot of cars in my lifetime. Our Prius was the most trouble free car I ever owned, and whats really nice is there is no serpentine belt or any other belts that need frequent changes every 60, 000 miles or so, a true beltless engine. Same holds true with our 2020 Highlander Hybrid as well. The only reason why we purchased our Highlander was owning our trouble free Prius for over 11 years....

I own Toyota Camry hybrid 2007 with over 410, 000 km. The car is still good. The battery is still original.

I live in Europe and while out walking recently for my daily exercise I passed two Toyota Prius's. One was a 2005 and the other a 2008 model. After passing them enough times I finally got to speak to the owners of both of them. The lady that owned the 2005 one which had 120, 000 miles on it owned it for two years and had no problems with it. The guy who owned the 2008 one had owned it since it was two years old and it had 140, 000 miles on it. He too had no problems with it.

Toyota is the best I used to work for Toyota and I drive Toyota Corolla since 2003, around 500.000 km. on orginal engine and transmission.
Airconditioning works very strong despite 18 years.

Minimal lifespan is 10 years 300k miles if you drive it regularly even in really hot climates like Florida. It last way much longer in milder and coolder temperature, 15 years or more 500k+ miles. Keep it in garage will make it last much longer. In EUROPE they have 10-15 years unlimited miles, with yearly/10k miles hybrid service check for qbout $50 or free if you do oil change in dealership

Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge, Ali! Two weeks ago, I bought a 2014 Prius V with relatively low mileage, 91, 000. It was well maintained, starting as a corporate company vehicle for the first two years, and then a mechanic owned it for the next 7.5 years and it is still near showroom condition with zero problems or accidents, not even a noticeable scrape or scratch. I wasn't really considering a Prius but my mechanic who works only on Japanese cars said the Prius is one of the most reliable cars on the road. My wife's 2013 Rav 4 she's had for eight years has been perfect so far, so I know Toyotas are consistently the best-made cars today. A good deal came up with this car and I want something I will have no worries about. I took it for a test drive and was surprised at how smoothly, quietly, and solidly it handles with much more gusto than I thought it would have when you need it, such as merging on the freeway. So now I am educating myself and have no more fears about hybrid battery failure since I will diligently keep up the maintenance and have learned what to do and not do, such as keeping the hybrid filter, filter port, cooling fan, and battery itself clean, since I have learned not doing are the biggest causes of failure. I appreciate your expertise and knowing how it works gives me peace of mind. I look forward to watching some more of your videos. Thanks again, Ali!

Thanks. Would like to add that it is very simple, inexpensive and critical to maintain the hybrid battery cooling fan and filter. The biggest singe problem that shortens battery life is not maintaining this simple system. If you keep up simple maintenance on these cars they will easily go into the 300 plus thousand mile range.

That's a great warranty for Toyota's Hybrids! That was definitely a key factor that made me buy the RAV4 Hybrid😃💯👌

He forgot to mention that it's not recommended or to avoid using a jumper cable from a hybrid to a non hybrid vehicle. The electric system can get damaged.

Very helpful - thanks guys. Keen to go electric but a bit expensive. RAV 4 Hybrid seems the way to go.
