Did they truly forgoted the Blue shell koopa that is the man delivering the news to bowser? I mean we see that in the movie...

I always thought of a reason as to why Toad was Bowser's spy: most likely the evil Koopa King kidnapped his sister Toadette (at least I think so), and threatened Toad to report to him every action Peach did, otherwise he would hurt Toadette. Only later Toad realizes that Mario is the one who can save the Mushroom Kingdom and perhaps his sister's fate; that is why he lent the plumber a hand during the movie, as well as reporting everything to Bowser. Double-crosser. If this were all true, it could have been a great argument about brother-sister bonding, similar to that of Mario Bros.

If toad was working for bowser why wouldn’t he turn on Mario and the gang in the final fight. He was literally instrumental in stopping the wedding
