Alternator Removal and Install - Driveway Mechanics!

After testing with my ODB II reader and also checking the battery with a multimeter (engine off vs engine running) I needed to replace the alternator on this 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.6L

I had most of the tools needed to do this job but did have to buy an E-7 star socket to remove one specific part.

I could do this better in the future after learning from a few mistakes but I hope this video is helpful for someone else needing to try this project.

Typing this just after finishing the job. We broke down two hours in to our road trip last night at 3am. After the autoparts store opened up and some very generous people that lended me tools, this video helped me start and complete the job in under 1.5hrs. Big props to you, thank you!

Thanks for the video. One note, no need to remove the stud. There’s room enough to slide the alternator off the end of the stud.

do you happen to know where the block heater cord plugs in? not the end you plug into an extension cord. the other end. mine is dangling near the alternator.
