Sandhurst Women: Leading the Fight is an authentic look at life at RMA Sandhurst for female officer cadets and we do not condone discriminatory comments on our platform.

Regardless of gender provided everyone meets the required standard thats fine. If standards are reduced to take account of gender then thats unacceptable.

Don’t have a problem females joining as long they past the same tests and training as the men.
If the tests need to turn down for them, then it’s not fair and right.

If they make the grade. Then good & the very best of luck to them.

I believe this is the first substantial documentary on Sandhurst since the 2011 BBC 2 three-part series, which I enjoyed greatly. I do hope more come in the future.

What is with all the misogynistic comments in this comment section it beggars belief I served for 12 years in the infantry and did Afghanistan we had female medics who carried as much weight as we did and most probably half of you commenting have never served I come from a long line of veterans and I’m happy to say one of my sisters has now took the mantle and 4 years later she’s thriving so don’t talk about what you really have no clue about!

Artificially inflating platoons to be 30% female seems like a bad idea

I was at sandhurst 20 years again and had the misfortune of being in the mixed training company - I can’t even imagine how ineffective a mixed training platoon would be.

If they add a couple weeks to let everyone adjust to how you have to live, maybe give them a bit extra PT to come up to a good starting standard that is helping the experience. But if any training is at all watered down, the MOD is just producing unprepared officers by all standards before this year that will not have a good experience later. Quite certain the work is getting the opposite of watered down right now, budgets on the other hand....

I've observed a number of commentators who argue that women Teeth Arm Officers are "not up to it" in one way or another. This is exactly the same erroneous argument that many espoused in WW1 saying that women would be unable to work in munitions factories, drive trams and so on. If these women qualify at Sandhurst, then they are "up to it, " some being stronger/more knowledgeable/capable in some areas than others.

It was only a few years ago, that a cadet took her own life after the tabloids broke the story of her sleeping with a male NCO instructor. Sandhurst isn't unique in this respect. However, the subsequent enquiry / report had many very unflattering things to say about Sandhurst and described it as dysfunctional.
There's another series on YouTube about the Welsh Guards. One episode shows a recently commissioned rupert make a complete mess of his comms so that he had none, as the platoon leader of a patrol in South Armagh. Times have changed, yet Sandhurst hasn't. It's still producing officers unfit to lead professional soldiers. Thats its sole function. But if its called dysfunctional, it must be continuing to fail at that.
I haven't watched this yet. But if its by BFBS, what are the odds its a puff piece.

Recruitment collapsing. War in Europe, War in the Middle East, Chinese naval aggression, a 2.5 billion cut in defence spending coming up, and this is what the Army decides to spend its money on. Who is this for? Does CoC really believe this will attract more people to consider the Forces as a career?

The military should be arranging taster weekends for secondary school age groups, not just those in the cadet forces but all year 9 students. That way that can see what it is really about rather than base decisions on misconceptions about the military. If the MOD makes it FOC then there is no reason for any student not to attend.

Great set of supportive women. I myself am military and can sometimes find women to be too competitive, too selfish, and out to look after number one and number one only.

Stick together lasses. You’ll need each other.

I had the experience in the 80's in the NCO Academy a women was surpassing men at every task. They can lead if you follow.

Hahahaha so let me get this right. If you are working towards a 30% female target, how is that not gender based discrimination.

Surely it should still be a merit based system and only the best candidates should be allowed to commision.

Is there an option for the women to wear trousers instead of skirts. It seems strange to see a soldier parading with a weapon and wearing a skirt. Trousers seem more appropriate.
