In this Excel Function Explained video series, I will explain, how to use Count If function in excel. Excel Count If function is used to Count how many cells have certain values in excel. Using Count If function, you’ll be able to catch on if a cell contains a value or not inside a Data range based on your provided condition. It doesn’t matter if your data range is formatted as text or number. You’ll be able to use Count If to Count the occupied cells that has been filtered based on your condition. You’ll be able to do some calculations also.
Let’s learn how to use Count If formula in excel.
The Function looks like this = COUNT IF (Range, Criteria)
The Count If function has Only Two arguments or parameters.
1. Range: In this parameter, we need to select the cells from which we need to Count if it has any cells in it that meets the criteria.
2. Criteria: This is where you specify the condition based on which count if function will count the cells. Here you can specify criteria to count cells with a specific text or even use complex calculations to count cells based on condition.
Now there are Several points you need to remember before using this function.
1. It isn’t case sensitive.
2. You can use operators inside the function and count cells based on conditional calculations.
This is how we use Count If in excel. Remember, using Count If function in excel you actually tell excel formula to Count cells that has values inside it based on the criteria you specify.
