Djokovic is right. Many people believe that successful people are blessed with talent and some innate ability, but in reality success is the result of years of hard work and perseverance.

Nadal and Federer Made him Mentally Tough . I think all three was chasing each other Same Like Messi and Ronaldo. Bolt and Gatlin, Blake, Tyson Gay. We are extremely lucky that we lived such an Era.

The ability to not stay in your darkness for too long. ✅
Acknowledge it and healthily release those emotions, if needed.✅
Fall, get up and bounce back. ✅

Edit: Thank you, @MagusKali. I've updated it as suggested.

thats similar to advice for how to perform meditation.

You can't NOT think about something. Go ahead and acknowledge whatever random thought you have, but then bring your focus back to either your breathing or some mental image.

very encouraging to see something so easily taught works at this high level.

And that's why you are the GOAT athlete. Long life Novak, when you retire, I doubt that I will watch tennis.

Acknowledging and validating feelings is a crucial practice for growing mentally. Emotions are emotions and we feel them regardless. We don’t squash them, but instead we collect ourselves afterwards accepting that they are there.

Success is the combination of hardwork and favourable circumstances... can't be successful with just one

I was a mental head case. I was constantly worried about making mistakes. I remember back then most kids were the same. No one wanted the ball or puck with the game on the line because no one wanted to be the guy who missed. Everyone was ok with a loss if they couldn’t be blamed for it. It’s how we were raised. Constantly being criticized and belittled by the people who were supposed to encourage and support unconditionally.

I think people call it gentle parenting now, but 25 years ago I called it time consuming intelligent parenting. I wasn’t following a script, I just didn’t lay my kids out for minor offenses and I didn’t use shame and guilt and comparisons as a way to change behavior or motivate. I remember being so jealous of my kids ability to just try to be their best without worrying about the ride home with dad. We experienced bad coaches who coached with anger and low intelligence and survived them with smiles.

I do not have any rich athletes as kids, but my son does play hockey professionally in Europe and is loving life. My daughter played division 1 soccer on scholarship and is now a surgical resident as mass general.

Every interaction with your kid is an opportunity to let them know their dreams matter.

So true. When u learn to compartmentalise your mind you can achieve anything. Switch it on and then switch it off. Every player is good, it’s the one with the strongest control of their mind on the court that day that wins.

This man is genuine. We have negative thoughts, we have doubt and negative emotions. Just don't stay there too long.
