How have you used the Locking Rear Differential button in your vehicle? How do you want to use it?!?!? Thanks for watching and have a great day! Jeff

Why would we bother to look at the manual when we've got you? 15K subs - well done.

Wow, thanks so much for the detailed and simple explanation! I'm a single-mama and wanting to buy a 4Runner soon to go camping with my kiddos' and the only time I had heard this was on My Counsin Vinnys movie😄🥰; I'm guessing I should buy one with this option just in case I need it!

i have a 2005 runner that has been through several snow storms i used the locker to get home at about 15 mph on quiet back roads to keep me on track and out of the ditch, never had anything bad happen

Use it frequently while I’m at the shooting range, on my way out I cross a wooden bridge and then have to drive up a 65% grade hill. If it’s snowing or muddy the diff lock is a big help,

I’ve used MTS and crawl control many times for fun there too! The hill is not plowed during winter

I have a 2018 Tacoma 2x4 off road trim with Locking Differential. Trying to figure out the purpose of a 2 wheel drive, off road trim...but also the purpose of the Locking Differential on a 2 x 4.

Good videos, Jeff. I appreciate your humor. If a Toyota (or other truck) has a locking rear differential, does it also have limited slip/positraction or an open differential? If open, would that allow the wheels to spin a lot more than LSD and if so, for snow use and rain, would LSD be better/safer? Thanks.

Use the rear lock feature often in snowy weather in Massachusetts

hank you for the amazing video. I just got a new 98 4runner. The 4WD would engage (solid green light) but to disengage after pressing the button the green light stay solid nothing happens right away but later after driving awhile there would be a BIG bang (shakes the car) and it disengages. Any guidance on what the problem is?

What happens if you have driven the truck in the rear diff lock mode at higher speeds like on the highway? I hope I did not damage anything...please advise!

I just got a 2019 Tacoma off road. Truthfully I don't know what I'm doing. I pressed the locking rear button when in 4 high. It flashed, then went away since I wasn't in 4L. Did I do anything to harm the truck, or is the truck smarter than me? Thank you!

It is my understanding that turns should NOT be attempted with the the diff lock engaged. Especially on pavement, wet or dry. Torque bindup could snap an axle and/or mabey the axle connection point in the diff.

I have a diff locking button on my 2004 mazda 2. Now I know what it's for. Thanks, !

Never used it before.. but good to know. Thanks

This sounds like it's made for VERY slippery conditions where the wheels are stuck deep in very wet snow, mud, sand. And only use to get you out of a rut, not for long distances. I'm thinking "logging roads".

I was wondering what the best setting your truck in is when you’re in a snowstorm but still able to drive 30 mph, I have a 2020 Toyota Tacoma off-road that’s a standard, I have the A-Trac button and a locking rear DEF, but are those only for 4 wheel low
